I'm back

Hi all.

Sorry for the long absence. I've been feeling down because of all the shit going on in the news and some annoying shit at home. Nothing too serious. I'm just working really hard with my son to keep him from failing in school. My wife was just transferred back to her old department because "Janiqua" (the woman who replaced her last year), completely fucked everything up. Now my wife has to leave a job she loves to go back and rebuild the department that she left. Losing half the value in our retirement account isn't too swell either. "I haven't told the wife about that one yet"

I was going to start posting again last week but I'm having shooting pains in my wrists...I went to the doctor and he can't find anything wrong so I'm not too worried.

Sorry for all the bitching. I think I'm getting back in the blogging mood.

Here is a recipe I promised

Rosemary Olive Bread
3 cups flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp salt
3/4 cup warm water
1 tbsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp coarsely chopped fresh rosemary
1 cup Kalamata olives, pitted and chopped in large pieces

Combine yeast and warm water until yeast becomes creamy, about 5 minutes.
Add olive oil, salt, sugar, rosemary and olives into the yeast mixture and add flour 1 cup at a time, mixing until dough comes away from the side of the bowl. Move dough to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, turn to coat, cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 45 min.
Preheat oven to 400F.
Shape dough gently into a ball. Place on a baking sheet and let rise, covered with a damp towel, for 30 minutes. Dust the bread lightly with flour, slash the top and put into the oven.
Bake for about 40 minutes.
Place on a towel or plate to cool

I use olive oil and cracked black pepper to dip this bread in.

My God, no need to apologize. Real life trumps blog.

Since you have the wrist pain that impedes your typing, get a scribe. You can lie back on a reclining couch like the Romans had, hold a bunch of grapes above your head to eat them, and have your faithful servant type your musings. Dr. Evil received his first scribe at age 12. You're way behind.

Hammer, it's nice of you to drop in and let us know you're still alive. Sorry, the greedy side of me missed you.
About your son, keep pressing on...they are worth it;)
About your retirement account, do what my husband did, got me half in the bag and fed me the news slowly, it isn't the end of the world, as corny as it sounds, we still have each other.
Hope the wrists are better to ya.

The market will come back, or we'll all start killing each other over food...nothing serious!

My wife keeps up with ours and I've asked her not to tell me how much our portfolio is down. Thus far she hasn't, but I have a feeling I'll have to drink a lot one night to get over the shock.

I try to remember that the highest the market has ever been is up around 14000 shares traded, and that the 800 or 500 points down from that. Seems to make me feel some better anyhow.

Fingers crossed.

My son has strayed a little off course too but now with classroll I can go online every day if I want and check his progress. I think he cringes a little bit before getting into the car after school. But for the most part things are improving and he still has computer privileges.

I could live on breads dipped in oils. Mmmm My hips and ass are lovin' the foods I crave too! ;P

Thanks for the recipe! Sounds yummy.

Sorry to hear about all the crap happening, especially the health worry and your little boy, but I'm sure that with you as a father he'll be back on track in no time.

There still is hope about the pension funds, although I am only meeting my pension fund manager next week, so it might be a whole lot worse than I think.

I am considering myself lucky though because three weeks ago I was thinking of moving my savings to Ice Bank, who offered incredible rates in the current climate, but Alex read that they were not doing as well as they claimed so I hesitated long enough to hear yesterday that they announced they've gone bust and a lot of people in the UK have got their savings frozen.

regarding wifey, you can always buy her Final Fantasy XIII to cheer her up, it will be out in just a few months... :)

Stop your whining and start drinking heavily you frickin pussy! What the f-ck? Enough bitching, enough moaning, enough pity party...it's time to get loaded and blog with some attitude. No f-cking recipes for cupcakes, just ranting and raving with a shot of bourbon in one hand and a cold beer in the other.

Hey, we still love you and will be here whenever you can treat us to your delightful wit. Your IRA will bounce back. Try not to fret about things. We're all strapped in on this ride, so we're going where it takes us. Maybe the only hope we have of affecting the destination is keeping our chins up and looking for ways to combat the bullshit. That being said, I think we're all entitled to feel badly about the fuckuppery that's going on here politically, too.
Best to you and all your dear ones. It'll get better. :)

You still totally rock, too.
