Friday
I'll be taking the weekend off from blogging. I haven't been sleeping and I'm getting run down. Too much stress with dealing with my sons's teachers not following his IEP for his learning disorder.. I've already threatened to get a lawyer if they don't straighten up. The piles and piles of homework aren't helping either. To make matters worse, my son is in full on puberty mode and he is being extremely moody and verbally aggressive. I hate jumping in his shit but he has to know who is in charge.
So I'll be back to normal visiting and posting on Monday if not sooner.
I was crying with laughter at this one.

Take as much time as you need.
We have an IEP writing/meeting coming up soon and I dread these things worse than death.
Take care!
HA! Good stuff.
Yeah, good luck on that. My youngest has been in an IEP situation since before kindergarten. She just started her Sophomore year. If you need a lawyer (seriously), my wife has a connection to one who specializes with IEP cases...
I love those ol' boys...even if they are from my state!
Take care Hammer, you can hammer in the morning!
We all need a break sometimes, or we get burned out. (Teenage) kids and their school stuff is exhausting. Hope you can get some rest Hammer, but it doesn't sound like it...
Red State Update COOKS OBAMA's MOOSE!
My son (who is now my youngest airman) had an iep since before his frist day of kindergarten. At one point, I stood up at the roundtable and asked if I should simply remove my fifth grader from the school, help him fill out a job application and toss him on the back of a garbage truck (no offense to recycling engineers intended). It stunned the whole crew! A few years later it was suggested my son finish high school with a certificate vs. a diploma. My rage was over the top.
Stay strong, Hammer. You are your child's ONLY advocate. Your little guy is worth it! It is extra tough when hormones take over, esteem is a huge issue, and of course there is the fear of your child turning 16 and offering the bird to every school and official.
I was told at one point, my son was the most learning disabled child they dealt with...my response... DEAL!
You'll get through this. Love your little guy and keep trying to make the best choices possible!
Take care of yourself!!!!
~AirmanMom returning to her blog...
I don't want to sound like a broken record or like I feel sorry for myself or my son or anything like that, but once again I have to say that your kids are very fortunate to have you as a dad. I hate teachers that do not follow IEPs. What is the f***ing point of having the if the teachers don't abide by them? My son and I spent many nights crying in front of his piles of homework and other nights saying "screw it". What is the point of being a teacher if you leave out the kids who need individual attention for their unique needs? Its not like it takes them any more time....it probably takes them less time.
Thank for for letting me rant. He's a senior now and I am still pissed off about grade school and Jr. High. :)
Hammer,
The sad thing is that I also know what an IEP is as I have two of my sons involved with them and their teachers.
Take a rest dude! See ya Monday.
Taking a break for the weekend sounds like a good plan. I may do that myself. Good luck with the issues going on at school w/ your son. It's not easy.
have a soothing weekend with your family - and i'm STEALING THIS VID!
LMBFTO!
HEAAYLL!
Good luck bumping heads with the school.
Best of luck with the school bullcrap.
All the best with your son and the school. Take a rest, stay focused and try to relax.
You are right in your priorities Mr H! Take care of yourself and your family...
I feel your pain on the IEP. I like to have a shot of whiskey before I go in to my son's.
I had 3 last year because they couldn't follow simple directions.
Ugh!
Enjoy your weekend kiddo~~ Just wanted to let you know I have you and the fam in my thoughts...Praying that Ike doesn't impact you and your too much. I know you are inland some but still when I hear Texas I send safe vibes...
In our case we found that homeschooling required less time, and far less stress, than battling the IEP monster. You have my sympathy. :(
I feel for you. All that fighting with school is stressful and exhausting. We only want the best for our kids after all.
Good luck.
Have a nice relaxing weekend. See you Monday!
Hope you are OK Mr H!
Hammer, good luck with the IEP crap. It's a damn shame when you have to fight for your child's education.
Yea, those guys kill me, every time. You take care man.
The video was hysterical.
Sorry that you are having trouble sleeping. I hope all is well soon.
Your son, my daughter.
We live 2 blocks from the school and I think I am there more often than some of the children are - the office staff knows me - teachers in forthcoming grades know me. The state I live in is WAY bad about how they handle IEPs, too.
Sometimes ya just gotta get your bitch/dick "on".
