Sweet 16
The wife and I just celebrated out 16th wedding anniversary last night. We both have been keeping odd hours and despite being exhausted, we went out and had a nice dinner and some wine at an Italian place. She had the Shrimp Paesano and I had mushroom ravioli. The best part was the appetizer, home made potato chips served hot, covered in gorgonzola and accomapnied by a hot garlic cheese cream dip.
We talked about her new job, and did some catching up, due to fact thay she had been gone most of this month. It was a nice evening.

Congratulations Hammer...hang in there!
I really enjoyed Strange Courtship and can relate to in a couple of ways 1) I currently have a gay brother-in-law who used to shock us with his tale or tails too, 2) bunked in the same room in the military with a gay guy who was my first best man (that story comes later).
They are strange to us, but just people when you get right down to it.

Congratulations! Loved the old post. My sister used to be a waitress in Dallas back in the 80s, and had a few flamboyant gay friends, so I can relate there too. She introduced me to some of them at parties, and used to love to try to shock me with all the dirty details of their lives, which they had related to her. They suposedly taught her how to give a great blow job, and lots of other little secrets on how to please a guy.
Unfortunately, many of them, includiung her best friend, died of AIDS before the decade was out. Very sad, but made me a more mature guy when it comes to dealing with these things. The AIDS era taught me that they are just people in love, and their love is as good, or as bad, as heterosexuall love.
The flamboyance came, I think, from being under attack for so long. It's like they had to shove it in our face to make up for it.
I have a good friend now, former student, who is gay and always playfully hits on me. He just doesn't understand how viscerally it grosses me out to think of it, because he thinks of his sexuality as perfectly normal. I try to be cool about it. After all , it's my problem anyway, thinking of him as abnormal and gross. Ny issue, not his.

FHB: I see you're point. I've met some gay folks with class that didn't feel the need to do any more in front of me than straight folks did. Then again I still can't keep my lunch down when they sit on each others laps and tongue kiss... I think it's something wired into my brain.
