Double memed

I got hit with the 8 random things by sornie and the glass meme by Terri

Here goes:

1. I only wear black socks or none at all. I don't know how it got started but I got tired of never having a matching pair.

2. On my office wall I have several Frazetta prints, Posters from Jimi Hendrix are you experienced , Spongebob , Guns and ammo , Banana splits and Free enterprise.

3. I'm an NRA life member even though they are too concillatory and weak willed for my tastes.

4. Outside of a housefly or cockroach I've never killed anything

5. I collect ash trays even though I don't smoke

6. I have to sleep with the TV on otherwise my tinnitus keeps me awake.

7. I'm a fan of the 1960's and I like to read old books, newspapers, and magazines, from that period.

8. I'd rather not know about a celebrities political beliefs because if I do, I usually end up boycotting them.

Glass meme

How full is your glass? Mostly full

What kind of glass is it? Beer Stein

What’s in the glass? Lambic ale

Reasons for #1, #2 and #3.

I'm a fairly optomistic person.

I like steins because they reperesent something solid heavy and dependable.

The Lambic ale because it's the drink of the common man with a unique personality twist .

Anyone who wants to tag themselves, feel free, I'd like to see your answers.

Interesting stuff.

The glass meme is unusual.

+1 on #8. I wish the entertainers would just stop talking about politics. My choices of movies to watch have been steadily shrinking since 2000...

I can tell you are enlightened by virtue of not wearing white socks.

The celebrities need not talk about politics, or religion, or how hard life is!!!!!

I only sleep with the t.v. on when I fall asleep before I get the chance to shut if off. hehehehe

Very interesting on the glass one.

I sleep with the TV on too unless I'm really, really tired because it will bore me to sleep, otherwise I'm thinking too much about stuff.

What is Lambic ale? Is that a type of ale or a brand of ale?

You wear black socks with shorts while cutting the grass??? Cool!

Jeannie: the glass one took me a few days to think about.

Tweety: a really boring show helps me sleep as well as provide backround noise :)

Kevin: Me too, I figure they should shut up and sing, dance or act without trying to alienate at least 50% of their audience.

Stucco: White socks were ok when I wore tennis shoes but when I moved to deck shoes they just didn't fit in anymore :)

Burfica: yeah like the dixie chicks would explode or something if they could keep their views to themselves for 5 min.

Paul: Yeah bad thing is if somehting really cool comes on I find myself keeping one eye open

The Lambic is a belgian style beer naturally fermented by wild yeasts and barrel aged for several years. It can be as potent as wine with similar complexities. I recommend chimay grand reserve or Madred Sous

HEY HAMMER! CAN YOU HEAR ME? I HAVE TINNITUS TOO! I'VE HAD IT AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER. I WOULD SIT IN THE QUIET AS A CHILD AND LISTEN TO THE WHISTLE IN MY EARS.

Ok, I know that wasn't funny, but I've had it since childhood. I've often wondered if you can be born with it. If I had lived my childhood dream to be a rock guitarist, I'd no doubt be deaf by now. Unless I had done like goofy ol' Skunk Baxter in the Doobie Brothers and wear headphones with the bands feedback monitoring at a nice level for human ears.

I'm pretty much the same way about celebrities. I have to swallow my pride sometimes and watch a movie with Susan Sarandon or George Clooney that my wife wants to watch. She's blissfully free from such concerns.

8 things meme:

1) Although I am a native german, I do not drink beer. It doesn't like me. And I don't like it.

2) I really am married and have kids. Really.

3) Although I live in farm country, I do not enjoy the smell of pig manure. And corn pollen makes me sneeze.

4) Although I live in/very near PA dutch country, I have never done the polka or any of the amish dances.

5) If I invite more than a couple of people over for grilled hamburgers, chances are that more than 20 will hang out on the deck for the evening. And someone almost always will bring me a t-bone. Too many t-bones are like education: both make a man well-rounded.

6) My favorite music is by the Climax Blues Band. Robert Cray is pretty good, too. And I miss BOC.

7) I have served (and serve) in elected and/or appointed capacities.

8) My other half both admires and detests the same thing about me: I have a tendency towards brutal honesty. She constantly warns me that some people cannot handle having hearing the truth about themselves and worries that someone, somewhere, will go off the deep end because of it.

Mate,

You are the living reincarnation of Einstein.

Why didn't I think of the black socks trick?

Pure genius, Hammer

Ahhh, Chimay... yes, a fine brew at $12 per bottle. I tried it once and I agree that it is one of the best ever. The price tag scares me so I stick with the IPA, but I'll have to try the other one you mentioned too.

the black socks kinda creep me out...I let my NRA memebership lapse cause they kept giving my name/address to some really bizarre groups.

the glass meme was cool.

What have you killed while inside houseflies and cockroaches?

Sorry... I think I might be channeling Groucho Marx.

Do you keep refilling it? If you like the ale so much, how come it's mostly full? Really, I want to know.

JAM: Not sure where I got it, I've had ringing as long as I can remember.

meow: Very interesting and thanks for visiting. Do you have a blog I can visit? I'm with you on the pig manure, I grew up in the midwest and it was pervasive almost as bad as the stockyards.

David McMahon: It's all about utility. When one gets a hole the whole pair isn't wasted :)

Paul: It's funny, I cringe at paying 12 for a bottle of wine but a bottle of Chimay doesn't phase me. I guess since it's a rare treat instead of a household staple ;)

Katherine: lol black socks only with jeans and deck shoes or boots. I contacted the NRA and told them no more mailings and to no give out my address. So far so good.

Jenny: No not with shorts, I always mow in jeans because of the stuff that flies out of the mower

Nyx: har!

anndi: the bottle stays close by and the mug is refilled religiously :)

Thanks for doing the glass meme! It makes you think, doesn't it?

As far as sleeping with the t.v. on... I do to. I don't have tinnitus, it's just a bad habit I developed.

#5 is interesting...not a smoker, but a collector of ashtrays. I would't have thought of that.
