Blog/Email issues

I'm no longer getting email notifications of comments. I checked my settings and everything is the same. Is anyone else having this issue?

Also, a good number of blogs I visit are giving me an error:

Internet explorer cannot open the internet site http:///insert blog name here..Operation aborted.

Last time this happened there were scripts running on certain blogs that would not load properly.

If anyone happens to have any information about this, please let me know.

I've used firefox here and there to get around the issue but All 200 blogs I read are accessed under IExploder and I really loathe the thought of moving them all.

there isn't any malware on my site though, despite the google red attack site barrier.

i don't know what to tell you about the comments. call me sometime about the meet, i need help planning the food.

There is a way to copy your favourites from IE to Firefox I think

David Codrea mentioned the same problem with the comment email notifications.

The problem with some blogs not loading and / or generating errors I have had for a while; I updated to IE8 and it became worse, not better.

The more elaborate the site (lots of great pictures) the more likely it is to error out for me. I had to give up some of my favorite reads (I WANT BRIGID BACK!)

I didn't notice if this was a problem strictly with Blogger sites ...

Yeah - you can import your favorites/bookmarks easily enough from IE to Firefox. So far, I've had no problems with my blog or with others either. But then too, I use Google reader and usually access it via Firefox. I just downloaded IE8 day before yesterday and other than some problems initially opening IE, it seems to work great -a lot faster, a lot like Firefox too in some ways. Seeing as I often go to you for advice about computer-related stuff, you know I wouldn't be a good one to ask for help, don't 'cha?

Hope you get it all figured out though.

Yes, I've noticed that problem with blogspot websites for awhile. It's not evertime, but sometimes you get the page cannot be displayed and then you hit refresh and it loads up fine. Probably something to do with one of these plugins in your sidebar. I also notice that blogspot pages load twice. I have to hit the back button twice to exit your site, for instance. Weird...

Same thing happened on Lagniappe's Lair. He was not getting his emails either for comments. I think it is a blogspot thing.

I started getting the "operation aborted" error a few weeks ago and it got worse when I updated to IE8. I switched to Google Chrome and everything works perfectly now.

I've also heard that IE8 has trouble with Blogger's follower feature.

However, just from a security point of view, everyone should switch to Firefox anyway ...

I've had tons of problems with IE. I switched to Google Chrome and it errors out a lot less.

Fuck IE. Never used it. Never will. Never owned any anti-virus SW. Never had a virus (been on internet since 1992). Firefox, baby!

If I go to a sight that "requires" IE. I leave. There's plenty of content out there by those smart enough not to exclude non-IE users.

Cold Steel is the way to go! Japanese made by folks who know what they're doing. I gave a Marine in Iraq one for Christmas and he went ape-shit over it.

Hammer-I use Firefox and have no big issues but then again I don't know too much about techie stuff.

Hammer,

I didn't get around to reading everyone's posts but did you update to IE8 by chance? People have been reporting problems with it.

Hammer - Firefox is having the problem too. We have just got settled in (again) and the laptop updated both IE and Firefox. We are getting TONS of errors. Doc found that if you hit the back arrow key when you get the error message then the page you were trying to load, loads without a problem. I noticed this AM that there is a new Java update. SIGH. Also, Doc thinks that there is a problem between AVG and Firefox because when my AVG updated a few weeks ago was when he started to see the problem, I however have not been on the computer to notice until last night. WHAT a PAIN in the FUCKING ASS.
Anyway, don't know if I helped any.
