Weekday shit.

........................................................................I'm thinking of switching carry guns to my Taurus Judge. If anyone can recommend a good holster for IWB I'm all ears. I bought some .41 cal rifled slugs and some 000 buck for it. I just inherited my grandmother's 1950's Smith and Wesson terrier .32 revolver so I might carry that as a backup.

I was checking my son's grades online and there was a note in the margin next to his grades:
(Told another student to go lick his mother) Part of me wanted to laugh and part wanted to go on the warpath. My son swore that the teacher is hard of hearing and totally misunderstood what was said...I told my kid to keep his trap shut in that class from now on.

Went to my inlaws 50th anniversary party this evening..it was at a pizza place where their son works. It was ok. All they wanted was everyone to pitch in for a new dishwasher. I offered to fix their old one but once my mother in law gets a notion there is no arguing.

Like usual they ran our waitress ragged and didn't tip her so I slipped her a 20 because I know what it's like to be dicked over when a table of 20 people all pay on separate checks. I swear these people are the worst tippers on the planet. Ignorant fucks...

My neice swears she has the swine flu. Considering her girth and personal habits I am inclined to agree.

I took Jeannie's advice and bought an economy size metamucil to help with my cholesterol. I wonder if it mixes well with vodka....

The Judge - all I can say is, wow. If you're faced with multiple attackers from the same direction, no more choosing one and having the others still have a crack at you - now you can impair all with one shot, two if they're spread out. It looks like the best compact weapon for when you're cornered and need to blast yourself out. It's one of those ideas where you wonder why no one tried to do it before. Unfortunately, it's so good someone will get a bug up his or her a** to get it banned.

can't help with the fashion accessories....but I'm guessing the orange flavor metamucil would be delicious with the grey goose.

Your Grandmother had good taste in revolvers ... very nice looking old Terrier you have there. A year ago you could have bought 1,000 rounds of ammo for it with beer money. Now I doubt a box of it would easy to find.

Your stream of consciousness cracks me up. My husband has a Taurus revolver, but I doubt it's that exact one. I don't think he an offer any holster advice anyway...

Bless your heart for tipping the waitress. I put myself through college waiting tables. It's a hard job and it doesn't help when you get stiffed.

Let me know how the metamucil works with vodka. I may need that combo one day.

your niece got swine flu? Hm has she done that:

???

Well, if the answer is yes and she's genuinely worried, she should read this:

http://ahealthierwayofliving.blogspot.com/2009/05/really-scary.html

or perhaps all the guns together would be a better solution?!

anyway, like that you seem to speak my language and the bullshit-pic on a post further down was really good!

re hunting knives: is that you company? the knives look interesting, just bought myself a woodcarving knife in northern Lapland... but the survival-set with raisorsharp-blades does look very practical, too.
the problem is always that knives aren't really as sharp as they should be isn't it?!

I am a writer an in one of my books a have a chapter where one of the characters performs minor surgery on herserlf and that sort of thing usually shocks people a lot (and especially the nurse who was proofreading it!) and for me it also does pose a problem, because I can't really write what I would actually use in real life, sounds too unbelieveble... and everybody would think i am a complete freakl... but a knife like would possibly have done to keep everybody sadisfied...

oh and one more thing: what do you do when a hammer is your only tool???
Mind you a couople of special hammers are the only tools my boys aren't allowed to touch, since I get kinda bitchy when the handle of the brick-laying-hammer is bend once again and you can't get a decent grip on it in order to split the bricks in one go...!

Last time I checked, gift giving was a voluntary act and the gift itself was chosen by the giver, not predetermined by the recipient. Weird.

I'm sure the waitress appreciated your generosity. Even when service isn't great, I'm inclined to tip well, just because I have an idea how little the waitstaff makes.

mts1: From experimenting with it the pattern stays pretty tight up to 15 yards so I'm figuring it's more of a one shot tripletap

Katherine: great idea!

James Zachary: You're right about that. I was able to find an odd box of Aquila 98 grain LRN for $18

SQT: I cannot stand when people stiff the waitstaff. My inlaws grew up in the 50's and they think a dollar is a good tip no matter what the bill is.

I hate people that come in large groups and then dont want to tip. That sucks royally.. Thanks for being the good guy and making up for it when everyone else is down and under.. Not thinking of the poor person only getting like 2.33 an hour.

Sarah: Yep that's my neice in the pen..how did you get her pic ;)

The knives aren't my company they asked me to link them..but it's still a good outfit. I often do minor surgery on myself with a steak knife then glue it shut with superglue. My blog name comes from the old saying..when your only tool is a hammer every problem looks like a nail. Thanks for your comment :)

Terri: yeah my mother in law is like that. Sometimes I don't mind because it makes shopping easier but it is kind of rude. We're going back to that same pizza place on saturday for my nephews graduation so I hope the waitress isn't too fed up with us.

Tweety: yeah they get 2.33 an hour and are taxed 8% per table whether they leave a tip or not...pretty unfair.

Isn't so cool to get your kid's grades online? Oh yeah!! Cheers!!

I cant stand people that dont tip right. Ray and I have been out numerous times with different couples that just will not tip. They have no idea that some of these people only make $2.00 per hour. We went out one time and this couples bill was $55 they left a $1.00. Ray threw down another $5 to try to make it a little better. If you cant tip then dont go out!

Clueless on the guns and holsters.
My grannies did needlepoint.

The university kids can check out their grades online but not sure about school kids. I can't believe a teacher would put that on record anyway.

I don't understand people not tipping a waitress especially for a large group.

Way to go on the metamucil - it would mix with vodka fine I think but you've gotta shoot it anyway -leave it sitting too long and it's not drinkable.

Hammer: for an IWB holster for the Judge, you could try Blade Tech Holsters at www.blade-tech.com. I didn't see anything for the Judge over there, but I know that they will do custom jobs on a limited basis. Don't know what the price would be, but quality-wise I've got a couple of BT holsters and they've served me well.
Glad to hear the wife's eye is getting better.

what sort of surgery do you perform?
slicing of a couple of T-bone-steaks for this evening's barbecue, or what?!

And what on earth is an air-soft-Uzi?
as far as I remember, there's nothing soft about Russian MGs...
tell me the earrings... they didn't have a cute little GIMPY-model hanging down?!

You had me laughing out loud with some of this!

I had my eye on a 9mm Taurus once, I loved the grip. But I got that H&K instead because my son is a smooth talker and convinced me I'd like it better.

That a 50th anniversary is only celebrated with pizza and everyone paying separately and not giving the waitress anything is exactly why you need that backup gun. Next cheapo party like that, grab a cousin, pin him to the wall and then explain the concept of tipping. I'm sure a few of the witnesses to that could find a few bucks in their pockets to help out from then on. haha

Good grief! I have nothing useful to say on the holster front. I have enough trouble buying a handbag / purse so I'm definitely not qualified.

I think the teacher probably mis-heard him.

As for tipping, I always tip heavily as we make an incredible mess at restaurants [much as we do at home although nobody tips me!]
Cheers

Good of you to tip the waitress.

matt-man yep no more fooling the parents.

michelle: exactly..problem is some people think tips are a whim.

jeannie: yep I let it sit too long and it solidified on me.

Wreggie: the you can buy a nice used .38 for the price of 3 boxes of ammo.

maeve: Thanks :)

my point:I like colts..just have trouble affording them :)

Boss Mongo: Thanks! I'll check them out.

Sarah: I've cut out spider poison and a metal splinter before. Airsoft uzi shoots little plastic pellets..the gun show has tons of hand made crafts..the jewelry maker there is quite talented.

Barbara: the HK is a high quality gun. I have 2 Taurus 9mm's and they are pretty good too.

CrystalChick: Yeah I've tried. They are self absorbed and dense as rocks.

Maddy: Yep I feel bad for the messes my kids leave. I sometimes have them clean the table before we leave the resataurant.

Casdok: thanks, I'll have to find out what is really ailing her.

I wouldn't mind having a gun, but I always live with weird people who afraid of them and are uncomforatable having them around. I wonder why? I would only want a handgun for self-protection or a rifle for hunting. In some cases, it's good to have a gun, especially if I lived in an isolated area or a high-crime district of the city. Maybe if I owned a really nice house where robbery is a big concern, then it would be a practical decision to own one. But as it is, in 40 years I've never been in any situation where I actually needed one. I've always lived in the low-crime districts like Irvine and stuff. You keep your stuff locked up, but that's about all you ever really need to do. But looking at the way things are headed, and for the fact that many people are stockpiling their ammo at home (which is part of the reason your ammo was so expensive), I might think about getting one. What would you recommend for a first timer buying a hand gun?

At June 2, 2009 at 11:14 AM , Anonymous Hammer said...

Jihad Gene: had to throw in that zinger.. :D

Yozhik: thanks for visiting. I used to live in a safe area until they imported Katrina evacuees from Houston and now my city has the highest crime growth in the nation. For a first gun I would recommend a Taurus model 66.
They are reliable and are suitable for low power target shooting as well as self defense.

With a party of 20 asking for sep checks that is awesome of you to step up to the plate. That being said, folks who choose to wait tables know the hourly pay is doo-doo so they better be giving great service if they expect a tip IMO.

Do you have a bag-maker or a shoemaker near you, Hammer? (Not the salespeople, but the craftsmen.) He could probably help you.

I do not carry firearms with me anymore, but back then when I needed to, I was very satisfied with the holster my shoemaker made. Nothing better than a made-to-measure holster, and it was not even that expensive.

This little Ruger seems to be the favorite carry now, but .380 ammo is hard to find.

I bet that .410 slug kicks like a mule!

Hammer, can I be so bold as to ask for a range report? This is a really interesting gun, but my first reaction (knowing nothing about it, and never having shot it) is that it might be bad with both .410 and .45.

I'd be very interested indeed in how it shoots, how accurate it is, difference between shot shells and .45, etc.

You see articles in the gun press, but I always take them with a huge grain of salt - pay for play, etc.

Sorry Hammer, I'm not a fan of the Judge. Just can't get behind the .410 as a carry round. Try The Box of Truth for a realistic review.

Gotta plan for the worst and hope for the best, right?
