Hello everyone I'm a gun nut....Hello hammer...
Back in the early eighties I was looking for a purpose in life. I had my trials and tribulations but nothing ever seemed to strike my fancy.
Many of my friends turned to drugs and alcohol, but for some strange reason I went to Solider of Fortune magazine and mercenary adventure books. It may have been for the reason that my dad told me war stories since I was two years old. It may have been because my mother tried to emasculate me by not allowing any kind of toy gun or any conceivable type weapon in our household.
Nevertheless. I became a gun nut.
I began reading about guns and snatched up every copy of Guns and Ammo, Shooting Times, American rifleman, Gun World, American Handgunner, that I could find.
My dad supported me 100% because he was probably worried that I was going to turn into a pinko commie faggot or something... You military guys know what a Jody is...
My dad saw an interest in guns as a way to bond with me and engender a love of personal responsibility.
I was 14 years old sleeping with an automatic pistol under my pillow with 10 loaded magazines ready for action.
I was gung ho and ready to go. Nothing ever happened thankfully, The Russians never invaded, and eventually I was able to start my gun collection in earnest.
I love the look, feel and smell of firearms. The smell of burning gunpowder is the most heavenly odor I can imagine. I don't want to hurt anyone with my guns... I just want to shoot them ever so accurately and fondle them lovingly.
Over the past 25 years I have become a firearms expert, a hell of a marksman and an afficionado.
I don't know what I' m going to do with this skill and knowledge but it's there and I can talk guns with the best of them.
My goal is to teach my kids how to shoot and create a legacy for them. When I go they are going to have a shitload of guns to figure out what they are going to do with.
I hope they will use them and not sell them.
I hope the government will not ban them and send them to the smelters.
I'm not a hunter, I'm a target shooter and collector and I really don't care what my guns are used for as long as they are cherished and appreciated.
That is all I ask.

Not into guns myself, I respect your right to bear arms...scary thinking of a 14 year old with one under the pillow though!
Hammer,
Yup.
Don't forget to feed those babies: it's National Ammo Week, decreed by Kim du Toit. Do your part to cheese off the gun-grabbers by buying (at least) 100 rounds of your calibre du jour.
I am not a gun nut but I have an old JC Higgins .22 semi rifle that I've been plinking with since I was eight or so. I can hit a quarter at 60 feet with its open sight almost everytime, no matter how long its been since I last shot it. As long as my eyesight holds I imagine I will continue to shoot that well.
It is so little on me know it feels like a toy.
But I keep it loaded and hidden handy just in case...
Is a Jody the same Jody as in the cadences?
I only recently found out Soldier of Fortune exists. When I say "recently", I mean Wednesday night. I dunno... it seems a little odd that mercenaries can buy their magazines at Barnes&Noble. I can't explain why, it just does.
I see Mattexian couldn't pass up a chance to plug National Ammo Day, in spite of not having time to look at some things I asked him too. I shall stuff green beans up his nose while he sleeps.
