Smeghead

Smeg is one of those words that sounds good but most don't know the real meaning of.

From what I understand "smeg" is synonymous with "putz"

This about covers it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smegma

Both males and females produce smegma. In males, smegma is produced and accumulates under the foreskin; in females it collects around the clitoris and in the folds of the labia minora.Smegma is invisible, noticeable as a smooth or moist texture until it is allowed to accumulate, when it takes on its characteristic texture and appearance described in many texts as "cheesy". Since smegma tends to accumulate under the foreskin in males, its presence is less common and less noticeable in circumcised males.

The term was popularized by the television show Red Dwarf. What this show lacks in budget and special effects it more than makes up for in humor and creativity.

Red Dwarf is really the only place I've heard the word used. Our PBS station used to show it at 10:00 PM on Saturday nights. I was in middle school at the time and had no interest in watching the news, so Red Dwarf fit perfectly into that half hour slot between the last TV show of the evening and Star Trek: TNG.

I've been using the word smegma since 1980. It's a wonderful way to describe many things and it sounds thoroughly disgusting even without the definition. I never heard of Red Dwarf; I'll have to go watch the clips...

Thank you, Hammer. I have for many years tried to find out the appropriate name/word for that stuff. As a teacher, when I should teach the students cleanliness and how to wash the private part. To be honest, I thought it was dust from the pants mixed with drops of pee. In Norway, we actually call it (directly translated) the body’s cheese-substance.

Actually, I seem to remember reading an interview with the Red Dwarf creators and they said "smeghead" just sounded funny, that they wanted a sort of curse word that wasn't obscene or sensor-worthy, and that fit the bill. I love the time Lister is trying to teach Kryten(the android) to badmouth someone, and it keeps coming out "smee hee." LOVE the shit out of that show.

Oh, HERE it is. I was driving down the road yesterday and thought "holy shit! somewhere in the world I mis-spelled censor and put it in public for all the world to see." I just wanted to point out that I realize I'm a moron occasionally. Thanks for politely not pointing it out.
