A day in the life.

The wife's real mothers day gift finally showed up. I bought her a jewely armoire It turned out pretty nice and she's already started sorting through the piles of tangled necklaces and started organizing them. I notice they keep forgetting to mention "some assembly required" on this shit...Next thing you know they will send me a hammer, nails, saw and a picture of what they want the thing to look like.

Youngest daughter has been tearing up shit again. She is in a rebellious stage. She cut up the kitchen chair seats, table cloth and scratched her initials in the wall paper. I'm keeping a running tally of everything she is going to pay for with chores. Right now she is booked up through 2012. My oldest daughter stopped doing this shit months ago thank god.

Went to the doctor for a checkup this morning..god I hate that shit.

Doc: Hows the plavix doing

Me: I've decided not going to take cholesterol medicine.

Doc: Why not?

Me: Because it makes your liver turn to shit.

Doc: Your cholesterol needs to be 15 points lower.

Me: I'm taking flax oil

Doc That shit doesn't work

Me: We'll see.

Don't get me wrong he is a pretty good doctor and he always sends in the young female med students to examine me...It's kind of embarassing I'm about old enough to be their father and they are poking and prodding me with shit..and no I'm not going to turn and cough and just forget the prostate exam lil missy.

We have a problem keeping the kids bike tires inflated..they seem to go flat every 5 minutes so I decied to use an old farmers trick...I think it used to be called gorilla snot or something. You unscrew the shrader valve on the tire stem and pour this slimy green goop into the tire, replace the stem and fill it with air..it's supposed to seal up any hole up to a quarter of an inch in size. If it works, I'm going to carry a jar of it in the car with me. We'll see.

Eat some oatmeal and see if that will help any.

I'm taking a statin. Don't know if it's working yet. Doc says, "talk the damned medicine and eat whatever the hell you want".

Can do!

Hi Hammer.

Trust your instincts with the flax seed oil.

The jewelry armoire sounds pretty - will you post a picture of it here ?

The anger with the younger kid still seems off the chart to me. But he**, I just suppressed mine growing up - maybe what she does is more honest.
But then again, my Dad was a monster - and I don't think you are so... why is it taking her so long to let go of the hurts she was saddled with before you adopted her ?
Do you really think this is just a temporary thing that is fixable and she'll be ok ?

Seriously, isn't Plavix for more than just your cholesterol?

I'm sure you've gotten lots of advice on the acting out your young lady is doing -- wants attention, aggravated for unknown reasons, just feels like doing what she's doing -- but actually cutting the kitchen chairs and the tablecloth? Wow. Sounds like she's really pissed about something!!

Whats wrong with your cholesterol? I would advise avoiding Doctors all together. They is bad for you....

Honest to God - the only thing that really worked for Gary was taking Metamucil (the generic kind actually) once a day. Cheap and effective. for the cholesterol.

Hopefully, you'll get your daughter calmed down. Sounds like she's really frustrated or angry - needs to make her mark or something. Maybe she needs an acceptable outlet for her angst - something she can feel good about - art? sports? music?
I'd be tempted to mark out a section of her bedroom wall and get her some cheap acrylic paints at the dollar store and let her go. It can be painted over to start over or to hide it later.

Maya has been pretty good of late -hasn't done any wall decorating recently anyway. Scissors though -we try to keep them out of her sight and reach -less temptation that way. She usually just uses them on paper or her hair but new hairdos done by a pre-schooler on themselves -not usually a pretty sight ya know! Hope you get your daughter calmed down soon as that can turn into an expensive proposition for you and the wife otherwise.

Only 2012? You have a mild child. My kids took a hacksaw to the wooden gym we had in the backyard for them, when they were younger. Like my grandma always said, when they are little they are little problems, wait until they get older.
As for the cholesterol meds, yick. I refused also. I take flax seed. Couldn't stomach the fish oil crap. I'll give it a year before I'll decide if it's helping or not.

H20: I might end up looking like wiford brimley ;)

Cactus: thanks for visiting! I looked at some of the side affects and they looked worse than a quintuple bypass.

Annie: Jewelry BoxI wish I knew why she is acting out so bad..I think it's genetic because when you subtract her sisters age she was doing the exact same thing at the same time.

Kath: I think she is more devious than pissed.

mutley: I find myself in agreement with you.

Jeannie: she is doing dance class right now but I think she is so smart that she is bored with everything. Since she is bored she doesn't pay attention and this gets he into more trouble. thanks for the metamucil trick I'm going to try it.

Jeni: we had the hair styling thing last year..it was awful!

Easily lost: Oh no I don't think I could keep up with big problems...

Ahhhhhh Gorilla Snot--should make it yellow like Bananas....but it is the DAP form of Duct Tape. With those two products we could fix the Hubble, Mir and the Shuttle tiles!

Cough, Cough....sorry-had to do a quick Hernia check on myself. Prostate is TOTALLY off limits. A blood test- PSA- (put stuff up Ass I think is what it stands for :-),) thank you very much, is a much better choice!

I quit Lipitor. It felt like the day after a college football game every day and I said screw it. My first bypass was easy enough, and by the time I need my second, they will have the beating heart, Robotics, down pat. Good call on the Flax.

Sorry about the daughter- no kids here so no help......hmmmmmm, maybe a Tazer. I'm just sayin'

PS: Jeannie is pissed at me, Jealous and pouting...will you try and smooth it over- LOL! I never Met a mucil I didn't like!

Oh, I bought my wife a jewelry amroire several years ago and she thought I hung the moon. Well, I'm hung and have mooned, but that's another story. I don't remember any assembly though. Is that why all the Brass hooks are lying on the bottom with screws strewn around them? Well, if so, I'm still waiting on the screwdriver to come!

Have a great weekend Bro,

J

No respect I tell ya.

I don't think the destructive phase ever ends.

Good doctors are rare, just wait until the Obama works his magic. You will be taxed for everything you have high or low.

Good luck with the tire.

Have you checked the tube for leaks? Keep track of what part of the tube was in what part of the tire, and check that area of the tire and rim for sharp things or protruding spokes.

Automotive Fix a Flat works well for bikes--use one can for several bike's worth of tires, and make sure you ride them for a few minutes after filling.

I think doctors are all too willing to just prescribe something...anything. All you need is 15 points? I bet you can do that with diet alone.

John You always crack me up. I should take all your comments and put them in a book..I'll be sure to give you top billing.

Admiral: Hell I should get a rebate for getting all the bad stuff.

Sevetsteen: Good advice on the sharp edges they are plastic rims whhich might be part of the problem because the fix a flat just loses it in about 15 min.

Terri I think you're right.

Get some tire liners! Get the right type for the tire's size. There's nothing more frustrating than to inspect a flat tube and finding that a thorn the size of a red pubic hair caused the damage. Why cycles can't have tubeless tires like cars I don't know.

Dr. Ornish says half the people who have grabbers had normal cholesterol. So I don't know how indicative cholesterol is of heart trouble. I know fat sedentary people whose cholesterol is perfect, and athletic ones whose cholesterol should kill a horse. Listen to five different doctors, get five different opinions.

Still, going natural with oatmeal and generic Metamucil is probably the best. Even if it didn't help the cholesterol, you won't have a stroke from straining to force a constipated nugget to where your face goes cherry red and a blood vessel in the brain bursts.

Try to incorporate a Mono Unsaturated Fatty Acid food into every meal.

Hubs cholesterol went WAY down just with diet/exercise. I was really quite shocked and actually called the Doc's office to make sure it was possible to have a drop like that in only a few months. Guess so. I'm glad our Doc hesitated with the meds and said to try diet first. He also recommended Red Yeast Rice but we researched it and then decided against it.
Oatmeal is supposed to help.

The jewelry armoire is beautiful!!

mts1: great advice. I'm going to look for tire liners next time those things go flat. I stopped riding a bike because of thorns.

Paul F: Good point. I guess I should start using olive oil exclusively.

CrystalChick: I figure I'm going to have to get off my butt and start moving then :)

A little suggestion on the gurlie woe... Have you tried a bit of coffee and cream for her in the mornings? My middle boy wasn't destructive but he was off the charts fidget meister and the Dr told us to start him on coffee... it did the trick I tell ya.. just skip the sugar.. If she wants it sweet try Stevia.... It has the opposite effect on preteens~and keep something in the garage for her to deconstruct.. We got an old xerox machine at Goodwill and he worked on it for about a year!

PS I love the green goop.. use it on my mower tires and wheelbarrows!

I can relate to making your youngest daughter have to do chores to pay back the stuff they break. Mine are slaves for the next 5 years more or less.

...oh, and I don't trust doctors.

I am eating oatmeal every morning now instead of my usual grits. A bit of butter and some sweetener and cinnamon makes the stuff BARELY palatable. If my next blood test doesn't show improvement I'm going back to grits and hen fruit

I've had good luck with the gorilla snot. I wouldn't depend on it for a car other than an emergency situation, but smaller tires it seems to work on.

Who knows? It may even bee good for cholesterol too.

Do the research, cholesterol meds are a scam. There is a high degree of dangerous side effects from the statin type drugs with little or no benefit. Here's a place to start looking, it is an international organization of medical researchers.
