Recovered

I think I'm pretty much recovered. The doctor put me on some new medicine and took me off the other and I'm feeling much better. Sometimes illness just creeps up slowly until there is no doubt that there is something wrong. Most of my life I've just self medicated with good results and after this latest bout I'm considering going back to it.

It wasn't just the physical aspect, but losing ones ability to focus and engage in normal mental processes is the most frightning and debilitating part of being ill. I have new respect for people who suffer depression and other similar ailments.

I want to thank each of you for your concern and kind words that you relayed during my absence.

I found this the other day and thought it was pretty cool.

Welcome back Hammer...it is great to have you blogging again. Hopefully you'll be feeling great and back to normal in no time. Depression SUCKS! I've suffered with bouts of it for the past 2 years and have just recently figured out the cause and the cure. Good luck Hammer, and again it is great to have you back in the blog world!

Welcome back...I have been stopping in daily to check on you. I am glad you are feeling better...and I can most definitely relate to that feeling of mental goofiness and inability to focus. Right now that seems to be a daily thing for me...but I am still trying hard to get better.

Glad to have you back..bloggerland isn't the same without you....

so glad your back and feeling a bit better. I can understand ignoring something till it's gotten out of control.

I ignored my knee's for 4 months till I became basically immobile, then I had to address the issue and it's been a hard climb back, still not all the way there, but getting there.

Hope you just continue to get better and better.

Hammer,

I had no idea that you were ill my friend! Between school and work I don't have much time to get arouund to my fav sites. I think I've subscribed to several readers, so I need to learn how to use them.

Had I realized you were ill, I would've taken FULL advantage poking endless fun at yo sick ass and hitting below the belt. What are friends for if we can't bust your balls when you are down? Sorry I missed the opportunity.

Seriously,

I pray for a speedy recovery, and to say- if there is anything...is ludicrous as I don't know where you live and could not do anything even if I did. But I can offer words of encouragement and support such as the ones above.

God Bless my friend,

John

Hammer,

I had to take SSRI's (Prozac, Zoloft et.al. Wwhen my thyroid went berserk. I was crying at McDonalds commercials- The Hamburglar is hungry wahhhhhhhhh, snif snif. I couldn't get off the couch, didn't care about anything etc.

I'm not saying you were depressed as I have no clue what was wrong...I need to back read a little.

I only know that any creative juices I had at the time totally disappeared. As soon as became regulated I gained everything back. Within weeks! If you have any concerns or medical questions that you are just wondering about, please feel free to e-mail me anytime at john.mcelveen@gmail.com

I have been on the clinical side of medicine for 29 years and gained a little experience. I am not a Dr. but I play one on TV and I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night.

Hope I'm not intruding, but sometimes you just need a bud to run things by and know you won't be judged or have any confidences broken. As much as I kid around that area is sacred ground and I don't offer it to many people. I consider you a FRIEND- even though we have only met through Blogdom. There has been a kinship and affinity since I first read your blog, and due to the number of posts you garner daily you have a very loving and loyal following.

We tend to forget sometimes that we are real people who struggle with everyday problems and are not just the Title Banner and posts of our Blogs.

Great to have you back, and if I've imposed too much (I don't think I have knowing you) I apologize)

I'm here bro, is all I'm saying! (I too, sometimes need a confidant and accountability partner as I don't have probably but one in real life. Those are truly rare!!!) And I know you would be ticked if I needed something or just to vent and you found out and I did not feel as if I could run it by you! Correct?

Nuff said. Back to bidness.

School is awesome, 1st two classes were really informative and this block- Two classes every 9 weeks (crash and burn). But hey, I signed up for it and it is totally worth it. Phoenix online is the real deal and not crip courses or "buy a degree" These people have it together and I can recommend them to anyone who wants to further their edumaction or continue what they may have started years ago.

I've seen depression coupled with a full-on mental breakdown with a co-worker and I have to say that even witnessing the effects is uncomfortable.

Glad your feeling better and back to blogging. And thanks too for the video! My little granddaughter was fascinated watching it, listening to the music. I loved it -mainly because I love great "fiddle" music!

Well, if the doctors don't kill you, they might accidentally heal you. Some do a good job, and some prescribe to you whatever the rep who just left their office is advocating this week.

Best wishes on your recovery. I agree, either natural remedies, or trying to take care of yourself are good first things to do, then go to the doctor when it's really necessary, and get off the meds the first chance they say it's ok.

Best wishes on your recovery.
