Labor day weekend

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes in regards to my dad's recovery.

Went out to dad's house again with some food to throw on the grill. He hasn't been eating well due to his obvious limitations. I brought the kids with me this time.
As soon as I pulled in the driveway, he was waiting for me. He said his wife Samantha was on a terror and throwing a shit fit about me coming over. She's obviously insane. I told dad to get in the car because I wasn't leaving him there to deal with her bullshit.

We went back to my house where I barbecued shishkababs and sat out on the deck and enjoyed some nice cool weather.

We spent the rest of the evening drinking Johnny Walker Black on the rocks and watching 300, Wild hogs and Blades of Glory. I could tell he was enjoying himself although he was embarrassed and worried about his wife's behavior. Of course this is nothing new, just worse than before.

I got up this morning and took him to breakfast and drove him back home. We always have great intellectual type conversations during these times, which I cherish. I didn't stick around for the inevitable fireworks when I dropped him off. I've had my fill of that nonsense.

Today, I made guacamole, home made salsa and grilled some burgers. My friend Gary came over and we've been catching up, watching youtube and swilling cheap Mexican beer. It takes about 15 cans of that fermented donkey piss to get me half way where I need to be. It's no wonder salt and lime are required for drinking the stuff ...

Anyways, that's my weekend so far. Hope everyone has a great Labor day and my condolences for those who don't have a holiday tomorrow.

Cheers.

The best times I had with my Dad were sitting on the porch sipping Black and smoking cigars. He's gone 36 years. I'll never forget those times.

Hope the rest of your weekend is peaceful. I've had some interesting and uplifting conversations with my kids and they're still in college. Solving the probs of the world. I sure hope your dad gets some rest. Tell his wife to piss up a rope.

Glad you could revise your plans and still enjoy time with your dad. I'm sure he appreciates you more than you know.

I don't think there's enough of the Black Label stuff to make me sit through Wild Hogs.

Hammer,
You're a good son. No one should have to listen to bitching while they are recuperating.

There's good in every woman, even the bitchy ones.

I never serve corona. But I do keep a supply of limes. They go well with Meyers Dark.

Meow.

Can you come over here with food and cook for me

No food in the house and as much as I love the scuba elf, I don't trust him in the store

Sent him for bread and granola bars one time he came home with a randy johnson bobble head. No bread, no granola, just the bobble head.

And you say wife's are crazy

Good for you for giving your dad a much-needed escape hatch. I had to deal with a neurotic spouse while I was deathly ill with pneumonia, and you can't imagine how exhausting those types are - even possibly-fatal illness is not enough to make it all not be about THEM. Bitch-assed ho's. They should be locked into a ring of hell together for eternity.

Wow, we had similar weekends...the Mexican beer, that is.

I'm glad you did't let the witch get you down and you were able to have a good time w/ your dad and Johnny Walker.

I don't have patience for controlling behavior. These types are more annyoing than people who are dishonest. Both are bad, but I can't handle the conflict that arises from people who will have it no other way than their way.

I'm glad you were able to have fun. Hope you have a great Labor Day!

At least your dad got a break from the crazy witch. Is he afraid to divorce her?

Have a good Labor Day, and don't labor if you can help it.

Hey there. Its been a few days. It sounds like you had your hands full with the step mother from the North. LOL... Sorry but that is how it sounds. Glad to know you had a great time with him though. I realized spending time with my mom this weekend that it could be one of my last. I will post about it in the next couple of days. They left a day early so I have some free time right now.

why don't you arrange for her to have an affair with the pool guy or something? catch them in the act with photos and rescue your dad for good from the wretch?

does he know she's a witch?

Yes, getting him away from the craziness allowed both of them to calm down and one to go un BBQed (what? no loss there) and the kids were not exposed to the "weirdness of their grandparents".

Once my mom, decided to wave her unloaded and broken rifle at me and my DD(something about shooting us if we did not shut up and listen...-LOL) MY DD just laughed in her face and I ended up taking the rifle away and now it's "poof" gone!!! My DD still talks about the time when granma pulled her gun-LOL. Seriously, DD could have lived with out this drama trama and getting any ideas on how to deal with guns.

Welcome to the holidays, they Always bring out the worst in everyone...(including me Murahhhaaaa..)

You're building up some serious good guy/good son points by doing that with your Dad. I'm glad for you both, life is too short not to.
