Happy Friday

I went out to my dad's house yesterday. He just got home from having knee replacement surgery. He said the VA doctors were great but the nurses were surly and inattentive. I'm sure spending ten days under their care was enough.

He has to have the other knee done in three months then he will be able to walk again.

They tried everything to avoid replacement but the VA finally broke down and approved the operation.

He's out there by himself, which is bad because he can't move much, but also good because his wife is a crazy blithering nut bag that makes his life a living hell. The more she stays gone the less Prozac dad has to take.

I'll probably be out there quite a bit in the next few weeks to help out while he recovers.

I took some pictures while I was out there. He's got the makings of a zoo roaming the property
.

This is Jack, He's an attention hog and loves the camera. He got in my face and demanded I pet him and take his picture.

This is Charlie. His favorite past time is rolling in mud and looking pitiful

Pancho is a teacup Chihuhua. He thinks he's a great dane and has an attitude to match.

This fella wandered up to check me out. I have no idea what his name is or where he came from.

The Doberman's name is Roxy, she is about the coolest dog I've ever met. She smiles on command, has her own bed, TV and bedroom and earns her keep by keeping all the other animals in line. The german shepard belongs to the people next door.

Jack isn't the one who fell in the septic tank, right?

I heart Pancho, but I am partial to Chi's. My Tiki had a killer set of cahones before we got him fixed. Pancho has trouble hiding his too, I can see. Why do the little dogs have big attitudes and big...well, you get the idea.

Roxy looks like a pretty cool character.

Good luck with your dad's recovery. Sending all the extra karma I can find his way.

Nice donkey. People keep them out here because they chase off the coyotes. They may be covered with shit at times, but they don't take any from anybody!!

Hammer - Wishing your dad all the best. As I have bad knees myself I am sure my time will come soon enough.

Nice Dobie. I miss my doberman...I think they are some of the most mis understood animals.

Wow, this makes my animal photos look lame by comparison. You got some nice shots and I love the captions. Great Danes freak me out, but Roxy sounds awesome.

May your Father have a speedy recovery, Hammer. However, by this time next year he should feel glad he made the decision to have the surgery. The surly and inattentive nurses are another comment altogether and I only hope he didn't suffer too much at their expense.

From the photographs, it appears as if he and the animals have found their own little piece of heaven. Beautiful animals and equally beautiful photographs! Thank you for including them with the post.

Veritas et Fidelis Semper

P.S. Santa must be kept pretty busy, but I guess that Roxy gives him a hand with giving out the presents.

My dad had his knee done about 20 years ago. He's lived long enough for it to start to wear out. Was back on the golf course in about 3 weeks. Crazy. Hope your dad does well. Nice critters too.

G'day Hammer,

Hope your Dad's better. Keep us posted.

Isn't it ironic that Friday (Australia time) was Legacy Day, a uniquely Aussie system of looking after widows and dependants of military personnel killed in action.

I actually posted a brief item called `Lasting Legacy' with a picture of a Legacy badge.

Prayers for your Dad's recovery ....

Cheers

David

Yanno what I do not understand?

If a dog (or cat) gets his nuts marbled, why do they say the dog (or cat) got fixed?

Were the nuts broken?

At the risk of sounding like a total wimp, Awww.

I like friendly critters a lot. And it's not every home that owns a ram like that.

I love that about chihuahuahs (or however you spell it). They have no idea that 4 pounds total body weight isn't enough to take down a grizzly bear.

Being a poodle owner, I'd say I'm kinda partial to the picture of Charlie though.

Good luck to your dad. I know several older friends and family members who've had knee replacements and EVERY ONE of them that was diligent with the physical therapy and exercises all wonder why they didn't do it long before it got so painful. They all felt like they had a new lease on life, but all of them really worked hard and kept up the proper exercises.
