Hammer's mixology

Here are some quick and tasty drinks for your next cocktail party or hedonistic drunken orgy.

French 75
3 ounces champagne, 2 ounces gin 1/2 ounce lemon juice, splash of lemon lime soda
Large tumbler or hurricane glass, fill 1/4 with ice, add alcohol, then lemon juice followed by a splash of soda. Stir well. This drink was invented in 1915 and named such because it hits you like a French 75mm mortar

Stout float

1/2 bottle of Guinness or your favorite porter/stout beer. 1 pint glass, 1 scoop of french vanilla ice cream. Pour 1/2 the beer, add ice cream then carefully top off with the beer (it foams).

This sounds crazy but it makes the best damn chocolate float you will ever taste with just a hint of roast coffee flavor.

Hammer's kick me pick me up

2 shots espresso or strong coffee
1 shot Kahlua
1 shot baileys Irish cream

Get the coffee hot and add the liquors. Serve in a glass mug.

Lemon squeezer

2 shots lemon vodka
1 ounce lemon juice
3 ounces lemonade
splash of lemon lime soda
crushed ice

Mix all ingredients in a shaker
Serve in a tall glass with a sugared rim if desired
These are great on a hot day.

Hammer's ultimate bloody Mary

1 small can of regular or spicy tomato juice
2 1/2 ounces high quality vodka
1 ounce lime juice
1 dash of Worcestershire
1 dash celery salt
1 dash of cholula or your favorite type of bottled hot sauce (optional)

Mix very well in a shaker with crushed ice and pour into a tall glass. Leave the ice in the shaker. Add a celery stalk and some green olives on a skewer if desired.

Katherine: Never had it that way but I bet it would be good.

Terri: I've heard of a pickle martini but not in the bloody mary..sounds good.

Dana: good guess lol

Epijunky: 2 BC powder or 2 alka-seltzers or 4 aspirin before bed.
Otherwise welcome to hangover ;)

LOVE the ultimate Bloody Mary-exactly like mine but I have never done celery salt.....mmmmm...also try sticking a pickle spear in it instead of celery sometime, it's great! (and yes, I know, weird.)

You can be my bartender any day.

These sound pretty good overall.
Drinks are one area I don't get too creative in spite of a well-stocked liquor cabinet. I suppose because mixing my alcohols general ends up being very detrimental to my head and stomach very quickly.

Hey, bartender... I'll have the French 75 and for hubby, your ultimate bloody Mary. We're trying to tone it down since becoming grandparents so hedonistic drunken orgies are off the list.... but we can sip a couple drinks from rocking chairs on our porch, right?? LOL

I haven't had a coffee drink in a while...the one with the two shots of espresso and my two favorite after-dinner drinks sound awesome. The ingredients for the lemon squeezer are good to have on hand this summer, especially on those hot, humid days here in Miami.

Hammer, what was the drink you were mixing up at the blog meet last year that was so good. I took a sip out of your glass and you offered to make me one and I turned you down because I was drinking something else. Do you remember????

Barbara: the lime juice really makes this one smooth and not so thick.

Kvegas: I'll have to try the pickles now that 2 folks recommended them.

Admiral: what'll it be boss? ;)

Jeannie: I try to pick things that compliment each other otherwise it's just like you say..stomach ache.

crystal chick: Yeah my wild partying days are dwindling too. where's my rocking chair?

Scarlet yeah the lemon drink cuts through the hot humid days for sure. It's what I take to the beach.

Maeve: You won't be disappointed :)

H20: That one was 2 shots tanqueray gin, 2 ounces cranberry juice, and a big splash of fresca.
over crushed ice. It's one of my favorites.

Not too big on mixed drinks, myself. I prefer vodka or tequila, straight, with a beer chaser.
