On a lighter note.

The meeting at school went well. Everyone there was totally on our side and the IEP was re written to address little miss asshole teacher's objections. Daughter starts going to the class on Friday. We were assured that the teacher will not retaliate. We'll see.

Gary is alive, he has been leaving "I'm sorry" messages on my cell phone. I'm not talking to this asshole till I cool off.

My 9 year old lethargic Dachshund Marvin caught and killed a squirrel yesterday. My girls saw him do it. When I went outside he was gnawing on the little tree rat and had managed to consume the tasty eyeballs.

It was hell trying to get the carcass away from Marvin but I finally got it with BBQ tongs and flung it into the green belt behind the house. I'll tell you one thing, his hunting instinct has kicked in full gear. He's a mean little six pound sombitch.

I started a diet again and have given up bread and most starches. Weight just drops off me when I cut the carbs to the tune of a pound a day. I was getting uncomfortable in my clothes so I'll probably drop fifty pounds just in time for Thanksgiving.

The contractors and insurance company are still haggling over my broken shower. I have a feeling I will need lube before this is all over. I'm getting a new roof tomorrow. The people delivered the materials today and put it all up on the roof with a big truck equipped with a conveyor belt arm.

The kids have a school fair on Friday. It's a big event with cake walks, dunking booth, roasted corn and funnel cakes. Personally I dislike being around school assholes and the parents of little brats but I'm obligated to go for my kids sake so they can have some fun.

I even have to bake a cake for the home room PTA bullshit my wife signed me up for. I wonder if they like licorice and green tea icing?

Boy it sounds like life has been a laugh a minute lately for you, eh?

Could you post a nice recipe for licorice and green tea icing? That could come in handy.

You men drop pounds so easily!! I wish I could just cut out carbs so casually. When I try, I find I'm usually on the floor, in a fetal position, weeping uncontrollably after about the second or third day...

Sweetheart carbs are good for you. Sadly the best way to lose weight and KEEP it off is yoga and walking. Yoga tones your muscles and gives you great core strenght , walking is great for the heart. I don't diet and I eat carbs and drink wine & beer and I'm a small lean mean yoga machine. Glad the teacher's meeting went well.

The thing about your blog, Hammer, is that I just have absolutely no idea what I'll get when I get here. Your dachshund killed a squirrel, then ate the eyeballs? DACHSHUND? I'm changing my opinions of dachshunds.

I have a half tube of lube, by the way, that is left over from the last time I had to deal with insurance companies. You're welcome to it.

Great news on the School Thing. Good job cooling off before talking to Gary. Didn't know Wiener Dogs could catch a squirrel- awesome!

Watch out for roofing tacks in tires!!!

OK, just HOW do you do it? I need to lose about the same amount, but just can't seem to.

There's a lot of info in that post! I hope you washed the bbq tongs........

Come on Hammer....kid's fairs are fun!! Get into the spirit and do some dunking! (Gary first!)

Glad the meeting went well - may it continue.

Good luck on the weight loss. my dogs would love a squirrel breakfast. We have a school fair where they give away fish to winners so I occupy myself with that, though I generally dislike them.

Good Wednesday morning to you, Hammer !

Glad that the meeting at school went well. Will cross my fingers for your daughter that the teacher does not retailate.

Gary can think about WHY maybe he oughta stop drinking so much until he hears from you. Maybe he'll go to A.A. and get sober. This would be a good thing.

Marvin ?!? Tasty eyeballs ??? Ugh. But will he ever be satisfied with just plain old dogfood again ? :)

A pound a day ??? I want your metabolism, Hammer ! Nice to know all you have to do is cut back on the carbs.

I love getting new things. Like showers. And roofs. The the bills are BEHIND me. and hopefully nothi ng else needs to be fixed. For at least another month... sigh.

Uhmmmm, Licorice Cake ? I vote for red licorice and gummy bear icing...

WeightWatchers rocks! (Sorry, a little excited over the poundage loss this week on it...)

Very happy to hear everyone was on your side. The whole struggle for getting the best education for your daughter just seems absurd.

Also, I believe Gary should buy you flowers and dinner before you take him back. ;)

Glad to hear the meeting went well. We are doing better at home than having these teacher that think they know your child better than you do telling me what Kora isnt doing and is doing well. I like squirrels so I am not going to cheer Marvin on. My mom's dog chases mice though. Yikes. She thinks she's part cat. Oh brother. LOL... Have a good day.

50 pounds by Thanksgiving? You're a lucky man. It takes me a year to drop that much if I really try hard.

I've got a buddy who likes to shoot tree rats with his BB gun, and then let his god get hold of them so his wife doesn't know he had anything to do with it. Hilarious. Sounds like you've got a good little killer on your hands. Maybe you should introduce it to the teacher.

I am continuously on Weight Watchers programm, and God that's difficult, I envy you to be able to loose 50 pounds in such a short notice, a bit of starch is good fot health don't forget. Marvin! bad boy! squirel are nice little animals. Maybe it's time to forgive Gary.

Holy cow Hams! This post if full of good stuff. :)

A killer weiner. Hm. That's not such a bad thing. Congrats on the school meeting! I'm glad the powers that be were on your side. They probably figured death was in their future if they sided with the evil one. I'm not much for kids'fairs either. Most of the parents are snobs, and that's something I can't tolerate.

I've got some pretty cool oils if you want to bypass the lube. That's from the last time I....oh nevermind.

Marvin has a lot of spunk. He doesn't look lethargic in the pic and he sure doesn't sound it.

Have fun baking for the PTA. You should tell them the story about Marvin and the tree rodent while they're munching on your cake.

That's excellent news for your daughter and I hope that the teacher is of a vengeful mind.

Marvin is the greatest, but you already know that I think he should be doing some posts to help you out once in a wee while!

Your friend does sound as if Dr. Bill's group will be of help, but, unfortunately, it's his decision. Seeing him away from the family may be in order, though.

The ongoing home repairs leave me praying that the roof won't come off when you tally up the final bils!!!

Now you KNOW you love to bake, so get to it and make some extra for all of us...please?

Of course, I have no corporeal form, so I don't have to watch my weight, but still, that's impressive.

Best wishes with your daughter's situation there. I know it's hard to get your child the proper individual attention they promised. That seems to be the norm these days, and you are a rare parent that will go the extra mile to get things straightened out.

Kudos to Marvin for his kill.

I wanna lose 50 lbs.

oh, yeah.

I'm not exactly on a diet, but a few months back, I started to watch the fat content in what I eat. that's helped, and I've dropped maybe 10 or 15.

that helped, along with cutting hamburger out of my diet... notably bacon double cheeseburgers.

oh, my. 55-60 g's fat par meal.

they were killin' me, I tell ya...

B-)
