Meme'd again

I was tagged again by MrsJoseGoldbloom. I don't normally do them twice but what the hell.

This meme consists of the blogger listing eight random facts/habits about themselves.

1. I have some weird savant abilities like being able to look at a cart of random groceries and estimate the total cost within 5 dollars sometimes to the cent. A totally worthless skill unless you're a contestant on the price is right.

2. I have to be careful about making up things or they will usually come true.

3. I have an extreme dislike for anime and other Japanese style cartoons.

4. I am a uniter instead of a divider

5. I cannot stand it when people argue pointlessly and refuse to listen or find common ground. I will usually leave the situation and not return if I'm subjected to that kind of scene.

6. I can make fun of myself and others and keep it good natured. Only those with giant egos and an absolutely false self image get offended.

7. I am friendly and polite almost all the time, I do this to put people at ease. Sometimes ignorant people mistake this as me being a pussy or brown noser.

8. Everytime my phone rings or I hear the door bell, I immediately get pissed off and annoyed at whoever or whatever is disturbing my peace and tranquiity. I usually pretend I'm not home.

I'll tag NYX on this one

8) Wow...I'm the exact same way! It's usually for one of the kids, a solicitor, or someone from a church...so why bother getting the door.

BTW...thanks for playing along.

I'm with you on #8. My favorite quote source, Dorothy Parker, is quoted as saying "what fresh hell is this?" when her doorbell or phone rang. My sentiments exactly.

#6 I'm like that too, sometimes gets me in trouble.

I do the same thing #8 also...

I too am allergic to the door and telephone ring [regardless of the tune / sound] Do you think that there might be some kind of genetic link or merely a bell phobia!
Cheers

I'm with you on #8. When someone rings the doorbell, it's never good. Either someone trying to sell me something, one of my neighbors informing me that my sprinklers have flooded their yard, or one of the annoying kids down the street wanting to see if mine can come out to play... It's gotten Pavlovian by now - I cringe every time that doorbell rings.

Number 5 and 8. I hate when people fight in front of me. I will leave also and wont go back until they call and tell me they are behaving. Our neighors did that one night and J and I left. I couldnt take it.

Number 8 I dislike because like you said church or for the kids. The phone thing is that now we dont have caller ID because our phone with caller ID went to heck and we just bought a couple of cheesy phones for the time being.

Looks like nearly everyone is with me on #8. Glad I'm not that weird.

With number one, For example if I mess with someone saying "insert famous celebrity" is gay it ends up being true. Or if I make up a white lie about being late due to a flat tire I'll get one the next day.

Judith: The music one was way too difficult. I'll get around to doing it eventually though :)

I have the same savant ability as you! My Mom used to get a kick out of it. She'd take me along with her to the store to be her "calculator."

Number 8 is Stucco all the way!

Hey, it's been a while...how are you? (it's weird blogging in the summer...first you go on vacation, then I go on vacation...really interferes with all our blogging, pfft!) LOL.

By the way, number 17 surprises me, but only because I think of you as a very direct person. Not that you can't be friendly AND direct, but I guess because most people think of me as stand-off-ish at first, since i'm direct, I assume it happened to all direct people. Mmmm...guess I gotta work on that.

By the way, not sure how to make the link work properly since I've switched my blog name. So, it it doesn't link you back properly, just go to

www.youmeandfourkids.blogspot.com

I've never understood the attraction people have to anime. It's just weird cartoons drawn in a rather jagged and squarish manner.

This actually tells us quite a lot about you......

There might be a job for you as a "budget advisor" with a skill like #1!!

I'm occasionally p'd off at the phone or a door knock, but usually I'm quite grateful that someone likes me, wants me or needs me!!

Heh. I'm feeling negative today, now. Or at least like, complaining to someone about how bad summertime television is.

About #4, 5, 6, and 7: I can totally identify with these. I think my basic calm nature was a good start, but once I outgrew all my friends, I found that being exra nice, and extra polite, and extra diplomatic, defused many volitile situations. I've found out many times over the years that many people intentionally try to push the big guy's buttons. Kind of like in old westerns where some knucklehead was always trying to get the fastest gun in town to gunfight them, to prove themselves.

I'd much rather NOT fight, and hey, give me a chance, we might even become friends. I had to ring a few bells and had my bell rung a few times before I got the hang of defusing situations. Once upon a time I had a pretty quick temper, and that's never a good thing.

cool list...I especially agree with #5. Arguing and not listening never gets anyone anywhere fast!!!

LOL...we have some things in common!

1- I think I learned this trick from my momma... I usually get it within two bucks.
2- profoundly true & sometimes kinda scary. My Mother & sisters have it too.
3- with ya there...something strangely creepy there.
4- my life story.
5- Yup! 99% of communication & if nobody is listening then why bother?
6- Lol, making fun of myself comes naturally & does not reflect a lack of self-esteem.
7- Me too, except when it's time to bust balls, I bust them.
8- Lol...so true! My home phone is under my dogs name & my family has my cell. Home phone rings... I don't answer.

Love it!
