Still Alive

Well here I am in Kansas City.

It's hot as hell and Grandma sits outside all day. She is darker than my my hispanic kids. If I want to hang out with her it's got to be out in the blistering sun. Oh well.

I bought the kids a small pool to put on the back patio so they would have something to do.

It's been a nice visit so far. Grandma is still full of piss and vinegar. She insists on washing the clothes and doing everything herself. I have to sneak around to help her out with the chores. You would never guess she is 81 years old. She tells me that she would go back to work in an instant if anyone would hire her.

I'm doing all the cooking at and trying out some new recipes. I figure it's the least I can do to earn my keep. The kids have been unusually good and haven't been fussing and fighting like they have over the last few months.

My uncle lives next door so I visit him in the evenings and we watch movies, drink beer and tell dirty jokes. I showed him a couple of my youtube videos and he got a kick out of em.

I'll be heading back in a couple days and will catch back up with everybody.

See you then

Give Grandma a hug from all of us! Piss and vinegar can always use a pinch of sugar.

You know its good to know she likes doing everything herself yet. Tears in my eyes remembering my great grandmother. She did everything herslef until she got to where she couldnt anymore after the stroke. It was hard on her. But she lived about four or five years after wards. But now shes gone and I think of her daily.

Hey, this is terrific news. Sounds like a great time is being had by all.

From your description, your Grandmother could outwork most anyone in today's workforce! She'd be an asset, that's for certain. I've always felt that ladies such as her would have been great in the Military...terrific organizational capabilities, out-work anyone, and never complain.

Good news that YOU are having a good time, sir. I think that your children may be responding to being out of a large city. It's so good for children to connect with older relatives and have some freedom...they feel the difference.

Enjoy and have a safe drive home. Thank you for sharing.

Good Monday afternoon Hammer,
What I like about you is that your immediarte response was 'I figure it's the least I can do to earn my keep'.
I wish more people were like you.
Houseguest from heaven.
A giver as well as a taker.
Someone who is FAIR.

And if we ever wondered where the Hammer got his Piss and Vinegar--we have found the deep end of the gene pool! They don't make em' that way anymore Hammer! Glad you still have her and the kids can share and have some memories of the visit! Travel safe- bring back some good jokes!

Blessings Man,

J

Your grandma sounds cool, Hammer. She ought to get one of those door greeter jobs at Walmart.

Let some poor schmuck try to sneak something past her without paying, ya know?
