More Vacation stuff.

We pulled into Orlando on a Sunday night about 5pm. The resort was gated and had a security post which made me feel better. Someone brought us a luggage cart and we hauled all of our bags and food up to the room.

Really nice, Two bedrooms, clean, well decorated, three TVs, DVD player, screened in balcony, full kitchen, dishwasher, washer and dryer, two big bathrooms with a Jacuzzi and walk in shower.

For $778 a week it wasn't bad at all. I was looking forward to grabbing a beer and vegging in front of the couch until I saw the pool and we decided to go out there.
The weather was perfect, I made a pitcher of Gin and Fresca with lime and we put the kids in the shallow end of the pool.

I noticed there was a cabana bar right next to the clubhouse so I wandered over and found they had shots of Sauza Tequila for a dollar. I bought about 4 double shots for me and the wife.

After the long drive it barely broke though the stress but it did relax me a little.
I got in the pool and splashed around with the kids for a while till it was time to go in.
The next morning I made omelettes, hash browns bacon and biscuits and we headed over to the magic kingdom. I about shit my pants when I saw how much tickets cost when the season is in full swing. For all 5 of us to get in it was 321 bucks. still cheaper than the $1700 park hoppers offered online but still....

After paying more to get into this theme park than I paid for my last 32 inch TV I decided we were going to do everything and ride it all if it killed us.
Despite myself we had a good time, the kids liked everything as we did fast pass for all the rides.

The girls did their first roller coaster and since it wasn't that crowded, they got to go on it about 5 times in a row. We actually made it through just about everything we wanted by about three o'clock.

We went to a grocery store on the way back to the condo and I bought booze, steaks, shrimp and tofu hot dogs for myself.

We were off to a good start.

Here are some pics of our accommodations

Sounds like you had fun, even if the place is way overpriced.

Looks and sounds great Hammer. Having a kitchen in the room is the only way to go. Rgardless of the price of eating out...It's nice to be able to cook your own...Enjoy!!

The accomodations were nice ! Exellent price for that !

Disneyland and Disneyworld are expensive, but I think it is worth it because there is so much to do and see and they keep the place meticulous...

If you figure you are at the park for an 8 hour day, it breaks down to approximately $7.50 an hour, which all in all isn't that bad...

But when you just look at the bottom line, it is definitely sticker shock !

Happy Monday to you, Hammer, and again, welcome home !

I notice the Jasmine and Tinkerbell? pillow souvenirs. Nice room.

Now you need a vacation to recover from vacation, eh?

Oh yeah, I-75 and the Florida Turnpike can induce panic attacks in the most solid minds on earth. Occasionally when we head back to Louisiana for a visit, I have to mentally plan ahead for the highways between Orlando and Gainesville, or I would freak out. Scares my wife to death.

I miss Florida. Wouldn't have minded staying another week there. Even if it was to just hang around a nice pool like you describe.

Glad your back but everyone needs a vacation from time to time. I am looking forward to going home at the end of the month if we have enough. In the next few years we would love to take the girls to see the Big Mouse but we will just have to wait and see.

No money up your sleeves at the Magical Kingdom...but if you had a good time it makes for great memories - especially for the kids

Sounds like a great time. I'm sorry you were so stressed. Driving sucks but it is so cheap.

Where you and your family stayed was so very lovely and no less than you all deserved. The children's pillows add a real nice touch of home.

How your daughters must have loved their first roller coaster rides! That is a special memory for any child and to be at Disneyworld makes it even better. VERY GLAD that you all caught a break on the park not being too busy to enjoy the extra rides.

Gin and Fresca sounds very good, but, sorry, I hate gin. Makes me sound as if I expect to have some, but vodka would be better...if I drank vodka...or drank.

The drive sounds very close to many drives south on I-75 to Florida, with the only road rage being felt by said driver directed at loony relatives who I had been conned into taking along. Family...oy vey!!!

Always nice to get away, but even better to be home. Welcome home, Hammer Family!

321 bucks! Damn. Did that include a blowjob from Minnie? I wonder if any of the E tickets from my childhood would still work at the magic kingdom...

Everyone always comes back and says the same thing: "it costs an arm and a leg". I like your reference to how you paid more to get in, than for you 32 inch TV. very funny.

Nice room. Too bad they don't offer wireless internet, but that wouldn't be cost effective obviously. They want you out there spending money in the park.

Nice accommodation!! Geeeez! What a lot of money to get into the park!!!! Still, sounds like it was worth it and divided by 5 I s'pose it's not that bad....since it's only once in every few years.

So far it sounds like a cool holiday! Look forward to the next bit =)

Very nice, I wouldn't mind paying the $700+ for a nice place like that.

Gin and Fresca...that's something that would never have occurred to me. It sounds fun, like a cheap margarita or something.

Plush! Sometimes it's quite nice to upgrade the suite! We stayed at the Venetian in Vegas once because my wife had a conference to attend and the Job paid. Sometimes it's just nice.

$321? Damn, that's a lot of bread!

Our usual vacation is going down the shore for a week - it's our favorite place to be. We can rent a house for $600 and walk the boards and go to the amusement park for a reasonable price.

And when it has to be a cheap vacation, we drive to North Carolina or Tennessee and stay with relatives.

Anyway...

The hotel looked very nice. It sounds like you all had a good time. :)

Very cool place, and you guys did well. HATE standing in line for an hour for a 3 minute ride. We've got a time share in Colorado, and it allows you to trade off and get great places to stay almost anywhere. My cousin used it in England a few years ago and said the place they stayed in was plush. Now some friends of mine are floating the idea that we go to England in a year or two and see the Fernborough (sp) air show. How does that sound? I figure I'll get us a good suite with the upgrade, and we'll watch a few MiGs crash, or somethin'.
