RIP President Gerald Ford
In the fall of 1974 I was standing with my Grandmother on the side of the highway near Independence Missouri. She said, "this may be the closest you ever get to seeing a president." Just then, a big black limo zoomed by followed by a small motorcade.
Grandma was right...Never saw another president after that.

Man, the old president's are starting to fall fast. I'd say it's even odds between Clinton & Carter on who goes next, Bush Senior looks like he could live until he's 150.
Bush Sr is a lizard.
Maybe we can get another federal holiday out of this...at least this year.
Didn't this era consist of the most living presidents at any given time?
I remember getting to shake candidate Clinton's hand - really that is ALL I did!
I was about 8 feet from Gore when he left the stage at the Columbine memorial. When he walked past I remember thinking that his bald spot was remarkably well disguised. Then I nearly shit my pants, thanks to some fighter jets flying over at about 500 feet. To this day I don't understand how making greiving people shit themselves helps, but I guess it does.
And oh yeah- being anywhere near a president is a complete hassle. Clinton came to Denver and played hell with the airport traffic so he could (allegedly) get a haircut. That was bad, but then flippin Bush showed up regularly and always had to run his motorcade through rush hour traffic. That'll bring the snipers out of the woodwork. I feel most comfortable when the idiot in chief (whomever it may be) is far far away from me.
