Sunday stuff

Last night my daughters went their grandparent's house. They really like spending the night over there. I imagine it's because there is no bedtime and no rules. In the morning, my father in law makes them bicscuits and home made jelly then takes them to church. They seem to enjoy the services quite a bit. They dress up in their Sunday clothes with gloves, purse and hat and everyone in the place makes a fuss over them.
I don't remember church so fondly and have no inclination of ever stepping foot in one again but I'm glad my girls have this time with their grandparents. Plus, maybe the Baptists can scare the devil out of them.
Last night it was just me the wife and my 12 year old son. The wife and I watched cooking shows and the boy popped in from time to time to check on us.
The wife wanted to go out to eat but I just didn't feel like changing clothes and fighting the Saturday night rush for shitty food.
So I decided to throw something together. So I came up with this
Glazed Lamb shoulder chops.
3 medium bone in lamb chops
4 tbs soy sauce
2tbs olive oil
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp steak seasoning
1tsp garlic powder
2 Tbs of your favorite jelly (I used home made strawberry)
Mix all the dry ingredients and rub them on the lamb chops
Add the olive oil to a large skillet on medium heat.
Lightly brown each side of the chops in the olive oil
Add soy sauce and jelly and let it melt in the pan while coating the chops completely.
Remove from heat and finish them in a 350 oven for 4 minutes
While the chops are in the oven take your pan with the jelly glaze
add some more olive oil and a sliced onion and carmelize it over medium high heat.
I served the chops with the onions on bottom a little leftover glaze poured on top
with french bread and a baked potato
The whole meal was done in 20min and seemed to be a hit.

that sounds awesome.
do you have any ideas for a good breakfast burrito
Snowmanpoop: I usually do eggs fried potaotes, crumbled sausage melted cheese and salsa on mine.
Well lambkins in any form are always my favourite. Just wish that lamb wasn't double the price of any other meat out here.....can't figure out why it's always so expensive. It looks [and smells?] delicious.
Cheers
Lamb is expensive out here too, so I save it for holidays. But mmmm, I love some good lamb, and that picture makes me drool.
The lamb chops are only a dollar each here so I buy all that they have and freeze them.
I'm coming over for dinner. You always make the most delicious things.
Sounds really good - where are you when I can't think of anything to whip up?
I too would like having a great Chef in my home :)
Your wife is lucky you are such a good cook, Hammer !
Lamb Chops for a buck each? I'm gonna move!
And you had me at "soy sauce".
If I could cook like you do, I wouldn't want to go out to eat either. Sounds awesome!
This should have been Sunday's great stuff.
When I throw something together it's usually soup and tuna sanwiches or just anything on a bagel.
Hubs would enjoy this much more!
And only 20 mins. That's my kind of quick dinner.
why can't i meet a guy who can cook? why can't i even meet a guy?
I wisk my hubby cooked...
i've been hungry for some good bbq'd lambchops - perhaps with a little smoked cherry wood put to them at the end...mmmmmmmmmmmm...
You may have to give me cooking lessons. I offer to cook but Ray then runs away. I dont understand I have never given him the runs with anything I have cooked.
Lamb is one of the few meats I've never tried. They don't even sell it here. I'll have to try that recipe on pork chops.
Buddy, you can come cook supper for me any old day of the week -especially if you fix something like those lamb chops, which looked and sounded really scrumpdelicious! Beats the hell out of the tacos that I always rag my daughter Mandy about that being the only thing she knows how to cook. (She does cook a few other things once in a while -when pressed into action -and can do a mean roast beef with kluski noodles cooked in with the gravy though. Gotta give credit where it's due there.
If I ever dare buy lamb and cook it again -many fussy eaters here and a shame at times -weight-wise, that is -that I am not of that number, so lamb rarely hits my grocery list.
Peace.
It's lambing season here... I may have to try this one sweets!
Mmmmm.
I vote that you create a recipe blog.
It'd be a big help to us young families with kids...
I have a hard time finding good, cheapish, nutritious, fast recipes.
