Visiting dad.

Went to see my dad for a belated fathers day.

His wife was throwing a fit so she didn't leave the small extra house all day...not even to say hi to my kids. I really don't mind, she is a nothing but a chaotic and disruptive presence.

I recorded a bunch of stuff from this guy to MP3. My dad turned me onto his book when I was a kid and I thought I would surprise him with some live recordings.

We filled up the kiddie pool with well water and the kids splashed around in the 103 degree heat.

I bought some Tecate and a bag of limes so dad and I could chill out on the porch and have philosophical conversations.

His knees are finally replaced and healed. He is getting around much better.

Another dog has adopted my dad. He didn't want it, but it kind of hung around until he gave up chasing it off. It's an older female Rottweiler with a sweet disposition. My kids doted on it and named it Stacy.

Coyotes ate my dad's chickens and bit off his goat's testicles. He had to put the poor guy down. I bought him a Rock Island .45 a couple of years ago and loaded him some 185 grain jacketed flat points for home defense but he uses them to put down wounded animals and stuff that gets hit on the highway.

I brought my new air rifle out there for him to try out. We shot cans and bottles from the porch. It's a cool little gun. I got it at Academy for $79 bucks and it shoots a .177 lead pellet at over 1000fps very accurately.

It was a good day.

Well, it was kind of you to visit your father on father's day. Too bad about his wife's drama though, but that's family. DRAMA! Happy belated father's day!

Hell of a price on that air rifle. I have been looking at several different ones and the least expensive of the bunch that are worth a damn are close to 200 bucks..

To not even say hello to your children, bad mood or not, is just wrong.
But with some good conversation and those recordings, who needs her.
I'm not as familiar with your Swami as I am Paramahansa Yogananda. I've got some good books by him!

Sounds like a good visit in spite of the woman.

Poor goat! I cringe just thinking about it.

tecate and lime - what a great way to have a day!

as for the coyotes - many ranchers around here swear by keeping a donkey or two - apparently a donkey will chase down and kick the living tar out of coyotes - i'd hate to have to be a coyote and find out...

happy belated father's day!

Good Times!

There was no shooting around our house on Fathers' Day. Maybe we can give that a try next year! Good to hear you had a good day with your dad.

That really does sound like a good day, and stories about your dad always make him sound like a really cool guy. :)

Glad to hear that pops is doing better! Sounds like some good quality time out there.

...and isn't it always one person in the family that tends to be disruptive?

I'm wondering if I could get away firing a air rifle inside city limits? Got a "herd" of gophers driving me nuts in the back yard.

It sounds like a wonderful day with your Father... (Even if your Step Mom sounds eerily similar to mine.)

I'd be lying if I didn't say I was jealous :)

Sounds like a great day. The best part was that your psycho step-mom kept herself hidden.

Now that's a gift you wish would keep on giving....huh?
