PC issues

Not mine but crazy huh?

I took my computer apart but out of the 5 fans in there I couldn't figure out which one was doing the intermittent squealing and chattering. I smacked it around a bit and it's quiet for now.

I'm one of those people that cannot leave something alone when it's bugging me. I've got the PC propped up with the cover off and I'm waiting for it to make the gerbil sound again.

I really hate working on computers, they never seem to go easy. I built this one myself 2 years ago and it's been pretty good so far but it's getting to the age where big things start crapping out.

I built this current machine for high end gaming but I got into blogging instead. It's like having a Lamborghini as a grocery getter. Maybe next time I'll won't get those nerdy stars in my eyes when they show me all those crazy high end video and sound cards that I'll never use or need.

I hear ya- glad you managed to return to cyberspace so quickly though.

I'm currently waiting on a new graphics card, as its fan did the gerbil thing a week or two ago.

Then it did the oh-man-that-doesn't-smell-right thing. Now while I wait for the new one, I've employed the best redneck engineering I could muster. Took the cover off and set an 18 inch box fan blowing on it.

Hurry up NewEgg!

Mine started on fire last year, thanks to dust bunnies on the bottom of the case. This comp is going to die soon, it's 4+ years old:(

Keeping up with gaming can be such a pain. I need a new card now as driver updates don't do it. I want a new rig at this point even though I know it would be the same thing, with Vista which I am still a bit leery of.

A low-end computer would work just fine for me. Unfortunately, my guys are gamers, so we're constantly upgrading. *sigh* Oh well; there are a lot worse, and more expensive, hobbies they could be indulging in.

Hammer, I have to at least mention it. Try a mac. You don't have to own a Volvo or drink Lattés or any of that shit. As one geek to another- they are VERY well engineered, and it's UNIX (proper certified UNIX), but unlike HP-UX or Solaris, it's beautiful.

If I took apart and put back together my computer, i'm sure there would be several extra parts at the end. I understand about an anoying squeek though, ones in the car are another that drive me crazy.

I admire that you built it yourself; lets hope the gerbils don't come back.

They're only supposed to last a couple years? Crap. I'd better get really good at backing up.

5 Fans! Do you really need that much approval? Do they all stand and clap when you open a program...Yeah...Hammer..Hammmer..Hammer..LOL
Seriously- do you not own any heat synch goo shit stuff and how many heat sources do you have? % processors and a small campfire for ambient lighting? LOL.

You must overclock like a bitch. Have you ever thought of water cooled? I love the thought of LIQUID running around my electronics!

Sounds like a great system...what Pentium 75 with 128 gigs and a 4 gig hard drive...please don't laugh to hard..that was my last one and I milked it and ran 98 up until pissed away 324.oo on an e-machine- nut it lasted 2 years. Now I have a core Duo processor with 2 gigs ram and it's running fairly well. Still won't upgrade to Vista, ptewy!

We needed a new hard drive last year... what fun. It's up and running but still humming and buzzing and glitchy at times. ?
Next time I want one of those all done up in purple and gold, atleast when it crashes it'll be pretty to look at.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I need a new hard drive so bad it's pathetic. End up doing lots of stuff here at work in stead of dealing with my own. Sad.
