Valentines day

Nothing big going on today. I bought flowers and a card for the wife and I'm making Chalupas for dinner. It's too tough to go out, deal with a sitter, the crowds, rotten food and shitty service so I figure we will relax at home and open a bottle of champagne.
Chalupas: Family style
Deep fried corn tortillas drained on a paper towel
.
A bowl of seasoned refried beans
.
Chopped tomatoes, onions, jalepenos, shedded lettuce, and grated cheddar cheese all in separate bowls
Fresh Guacamole
Cilantro for garnish.
The great thing is everyone builds their own at the table just the way they like it.
Guacamole:
Smash three large hass avocados into a small bowl adding 1/2 tsp of garlic powder 1/4 tsp of salt and 1/4 tsp of pepper. Mix well but leave it a little chunky. You can also add a tablespoon or so of your favorite salsa to the avocados for an additional kick.
Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Hubby took me out for dinner last night. Funny thing is I had the same thing to eat. Happy VD Hammer!
Spaghetti around here, nearly everyone's favourite. I deeply resent how restaurants seem to double their prices for VA probably for the whole weekend.
Best wishes
My hubby went to work for the night, but we spent the morning and afternoon together, so it's all good. I hate the commercialism of Valentine's Day anyway.
I'm drooling!
Happy V-day!
Happy Valentine's Day dude!
Just back from Carrabba's where 6 of us enjoyed a glorious meal and 2 for 1 beers!
I have a very warm glow at this time!
Happy VD Hammer.
Now I'm STARVING!!!
As a waitress, the 2 days I would NEVER eat out are Valentine's Day and Mother's Day! Restaurants are so overwhelmed on those days that you get totally shitty service.
Happy Valentine's Day Hammer family!
those look so good I am making them tomorrow night. Thank you!
That looks like a lot of food n_n yum!
Nice touch, Hammer. Those chalupas sound phenomenal.
Nice - I wish there was someone cooking for me! Sounds yummy.
Damn Hammer! that looks good!!!
Looks good, we just had sandwiches, since we both are sick. I would have meat with mine too though. (we are carnivores) hehehehe
Guac is so versatile. We make ours a bit different. smash the avacado's, minced onions, garlic (fresh) salt, pepper, fresh chili peppers if we have them, and a touch of sour cream to make it creamier.
Yep that would do it for me. ;)
Happy V Day!!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Wow! nice recipe
Do read my latest post and comment in.
Mmmmm, gawd that looks very edible. Hey, if you ever need a taster, let me know. It might be poisoned, you know. Terrorists everywhere:D
That looks delicious.
Hammer, once again you leave me with my stomach rumbling.
Any advice on picking out ripe avocados? I'm horrible at that.
We stayed home too...don't blame you one bit...dinner sounds soooooo yummy..lol.
That looks so incredibly yummy Hammer. How am I supposed to diet now? :)
That all looks wonderful. I needs me a Mexican food fix, now that I'm feelin' better. Maybe Pappasito's this weekend.
You've succeeded in making me hungry as hell!
if you put your avocado seeds back into the mixture once it's made, it won't turn color quite as soon.
DON'T EAT THE SEED!
p.s. add the guacamole in the morning to an omelet with some cheese and you'll soon have fans everywhere.
Even the plate looks Mexican. This sounds like an excellent dish and sounds like you had a nice, relaxing Valentine's Day, like me.
Damn that looks good!
