I don't shoot as much as I used to. Every once in a while I dust them off and fire off a box at some paper targets. Mostly they are to look at and to pass on to my kids when they are older and more responsible.

Yipes! Looks like you have more tools than just a hammer after all.
~Oswegan
I am not fond of guns but they are cool to look at like when we go to a Museum or something. Jeff wants one for the house but I am not so sure. According to Dirtcrahr they are safe as you want them to be but I am still leary.
that smith and wesson .38 snubbie is the gun my dad gave me to use for protection.
When he got his concealed weapons liscense he needed it back. But I had it for years. That was the only revolver I could hit dead on with.
Gigantor and I can't shoot the same hand guns comfortably. His hands are so huge, he needs to put thick grips on it, so he is comfortable. And I can't even get my hands on that proper. Cuz my hands are so much smaller.
Oh well...gives me an excuse to have my own. lol
You and my boyfriend would get along well. Nice collection!
Nice collection Hams! Too bad we couldn't go shootin' together. I'm officially hooked now. :)
That's a good collection you have there...I bet the magnums have some pretty decent recoil huh? That was the first gun I fired which was a Magnum. I apologize but I could not tell you the model. What I could tell you is that my right arm was numb for a couple of days.
Nice collection. I've always had a soft spot for wheelguns.
I come from liberal ex-hippie pacifist parents, but they did buy me a Daisy BB gun when we lived on the farm. I'd hang aluminum cans on the clothes line and shoot at them. Guns are OK with me, I just don't own one...yet. I like the rifles myself, but for protection, I like your S&W 38 Special.
Just don't poke you or someone else's eye out...
Nice collection, my man. I'm envious. Looking to get a few of those myself eventually...
Damn, I don't even have one and you've got tons....share!
I have been informed by several of my gun weilding friends that I MUST learn to shoot.
So before the year ends I will be taking classes, wish me luck.
Beautiful collection.
That's a nice collection...I know nothing about guns...but I think my husband would be drooling over your collection.
Wow! I would NEVER argue with you!
Very impressive collection. I agree with your choice of daily carry gun.
Impressive, most impressive! A wonderful collect of shooters you have there Hammer, some real collectors items amongst them.
Hate to sound racist but they all look the same to me...
kidding.
One day, I would like to take shooting lessons. I don't know why - I will probably never need a gun. I used to see a few when we lived north - most guys just had rifles though. I think there is or was a picture floating around of me holding a gun when I was about 5. I only remember it being extremely heavy - and larger than I expected a handgun to be.
Have a good time in Lake Tahoe and a great Birthday, Hammer !
That's a good looking collection of wheel guns Hammer. I've always wanted a revolver chambered in .30 carbine myself.
Very nice collection Hammer!
I'm partial to Rugers and Colt replicas myself, but you have a great collection going.
Cool! Funny though, that without your descriptions I wouldn't be able to pick out the old from the new guns!
Uh...Have you been in my closet? I have the same 38 Special and a 44 magnum. Maybe at the next meet we should all bring our guns and shoot them.
Impressive yet frightening.
Whoa, now you got me HOT! I LOVE the sound the cylinder makes when loading them.
I also love the feel of a wooden stock and the smell of Hoppes #9 and gunsmoke. Is there a 12 step program for this? ;)
oswegan: I never thought of it that way :)
tweety: as long as they are kept out of reach, locked etc.. they can be ok. I'll do a safety post soon.
burfica: I carried it for a while. It's really comfortable but a little underpowered.
random: thanks :)
barista: it is fun :)
flyinfox: the rubber cushioned grips help a heck of a lot
bobg: I feel more confident with one myself.
mushy: I love rugers, I don't have any double actions but some autos. the uberi in the pic is a colt copy and pretty well made.
paul: those little titanuim guns kick like hell but they are handy. I could plink all day with a daisy bb gun.
anndi: lol I'll try :)
kevin: believe it or not 90% came from pawnshops
henn: thanks for visiting, nra sponsored classes are really good.
jp: thank you
logizellia: thanks, I try to adopt orphan guns from the gunshops that nobody recognize as a deal.
ubermouth: thanks for visiting :)_
lexcen: It's light and powerful, it also has ports on top to disperse the recoil.
hercules: thanks, The victory model is probably my rarest.
jeannie: it's a fun easy going sport.
annie: thanks :)
john: It's a screamer. Milsurp ammo works well but extracts hard.
terri: up to the 50's they all look similar until new materials and rubber grips came into popularity.
H2o: excellent idea. That would be fun.
scarlet: I haven't shown pics of the scary guns yet :)
tshsmom: the hoppes smells so good because they use banana oil. I dab a little behind the ears before I go to the range :)
Jeez Hammer- is there something wrong with your penis, or were you roughed up as a kid? That's a lot of guns, man. I'm not about to tell others not to have guns, but I can't identify with this at all. The handful of folks I've known who were into guns all had chips on their shoulders about something. I hope for your sake that's not the case with you.
I was going to add that I hope that you store them safely, but I think I know you enough to know that's a given.
And shit- I completely forgot- Happy Birthday Hammer!
stucco: I'm as docile as they come :) I was denied toy guns as a child so I'm making up for it now :) Don't worry they are all behind a deadbolt when not on my hip.
You know how sometimes someone types something that is a big ole "aha" moment? I had one when I read your sentence about liking that it's a 19th C. technology still used today. Now you have me musing about what other 19th C. technolgies we still use today.
Does the still in my basement count?
jocelyn: Good question. I'm sure there are plenty if we look.
Watch out for those revenuers ;)
My dad used to have riffles for hunting, still, your beautiful collection looks scarry to me.
That's a lot of guns. I don't know much about 'em. Is one of those the same one Clint Eastwood used in Magnum Force? A lot of them seem too big to comfortably carry.
If I collected guns I'd want some that were used in the Old West.
kitem: I've got some really scary looking guns locked in the safe. My parents tried to instill a fear of guns but eventually I warmed up to them. Still a healthy respect is required.
Janet: The 629 is just like the Clint eastwood gun except in stainless steel. Sadly Smith and wesson discontinued the dirty harry model. I would love some real old west guns. However my budget only allows replicas. Maybe some day :)
My hub collected guns..He'd be impressed....I used to shoot with him sometimes at the range.
Who would've thought that this hippie turned yuppie would be shooting pistols and skeet. I even went hunting once...
Peace
odat: I love skeet but the damn place charges me a quarter every time I push the button to launch a clay pigeon :) Hunting looks interesting but I've never done it myself.
I was gonna make the "only tool" crack but oswegan beat me to it...
great collection. What is difference between the Ruger Blackhawk and the Redhawk?
Katherine: A blackhawk is a modern equivalent of the old west single actions (you have to thumb the hammer back for each shot. the redhawk is a modern heavy caliber double action, you can either thumb back the hammer for a light trigger pull or just use the long heavy trigger to both cock and fire the gun.
You have the right to bear arms. Let's not give up that right. I am pro gun.
Little lamb: I'm always happy to hear that :)
I like old things (the 1902 item for instance). Don't blame you for keeping them under lock and key. HOpefully they're insured?
Somebody is going to poke their eye out.
~Oswegan
Ohhhhh purdy!!
Makes my Lorcin 380 look like a toy!
Happy Burfday Brudder!!
nice collection!
WEAPONS TERRIFY ME, THIS IS SCARIER THAN ANY HALLOWEEN POST i HAVE SEEN. ( runs for the exit screaming dramatically.)
Good Sunday morning to you, Hammer. Just popped in to say hello. Hope that you and the family are having a good weekend -
Loving Annie
and in advance, cyber cake with candles, balloons and a birthday card !
Good stuff, Hammer.
I only have a couple of pistols these days, and the only one of the ones I sold that I regret parting with was a nickel Colt Python .357. I mentally kick myself for that, but it's done.
I confess to pistol envy. These are some amazing handguns.....I don't know if many of your readers will be able to appreciate what you have here, but this is EXTREMEMLY impressive to me. I really am jealous. My dream gun is a Taurus titanium but in a smaller caliber, I held one once and she fit like a glove.
These are amazing....My pride and joy is an H&K 40 USP.
Just shot last weekend for the first time in months. I love it.
Very cool man. I have one revolver. Need to get a few more pistols, but rifles just call to me.
holy cow that is quite a collection...whewwwwwww...
bridget: They are somewhat but I need more coverage. That 1902 is a favorite of mine as well :)
Oswegan: I'll wear my glasses :)
Cheesy: I actually have a lorcin. They aren't bad at all.
phlegmy: thanks :)
cathy: Watch out for the follow up post! :)
Annie: thanks very much :)
Jam: a python is one that I haven't been able to acquire yet. Those bad boys are going for up to $1200 for a decent specimen.
Barbara: thanks :) The HK is a fine choice and I'm really impresse by them. The Taurus revolvers just can't be beat for quality, price and innovation.
FHB: I love rifles too but all my racks are full. So I have to go smaller :)
canadian: Thanks :)
