Six more weird things

I've been tagged to write six more weird things about myself.

Morning glory tagged me and so did burfica and Barista

It's getting difficult to think up more stuff, but I'll give it a go.

I'm the only one I know who still respects President Bush (not saying I agree with everything he does)

I vote Independent. If there isn't one on the ticket I'll do NRA approved Republican otherwise I leave the ballot blank.

I'm a gun collector and have a Curio and Relics Federal firearms license

I manufacture my own custom hand loaded ammunition and can crank out 500 rounds an hour.

I hate movies with kissing and sex scenes, they make me uncomfortable and I'll usually go take a pee break or get a soda while that part is on.

I can't stand shopping at all. When I go to a store I walk directly to the item I need buy it and leave. Spending any additional unnecessary time in a store makes me very very cranky.

I'll tag anyone who wants to do this one.

It's strange what you say about kiss and sex-scenes, because I feel in exactly the same way. I feel like a peeping-tom.To me, sex belongs to the private life, if not....Then I don't know the meaning of "private life" and the contains of it.
But in Scandinava, that is a difficult task. Because if you appear shy or don't want to see, they claim that you have sexual problems and need to go to therapy. So there I act as if I watch but actually look at the side of the screen.
To me; What belongs to the private life is private.

well done kirsten. that pressure to watch is typical liberal bullshit. there`s nothing wrong with a little embarrassment.
that`s what establishes boundaries....which are the things that keep us safe.

hammer. i support bushes actions, for what it`s worth. if for no other reason than it keeps liberals out of my pocket and my life in general.

though i do live in canada so i guess that all i can do is wish............

Nope, not gonna do it.

So far, I've voted for Bush 4 times (figure that one out). Given the same choices again, I'd make it 5 or 6. Been voting regularly since 1980, and've found that every one of them, in one way or another, turns out to be a dumbass. So long as we keep this present candidate picking system, which seems to churn out nothing but crap, my feeling is that ya just gotta pick the dumbass that is least likely to mess with your personal life. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

And on the shopping... what about gun shows?

Glad i'm not the only one Kirsten. I've met Scandinavian exchange students that told me they have sex in front of their parents...weird.

Dr alistair: I can't imagine what would be going on right now if Kerry or Gore was in the Whitehosue.

fathairybastard: Yep screwed system, the candidate that does the least damage is the best it seems. Gunshows I go to my particular spots and leave. Every show is getting to be redundant.

Hammer, I'm with you on the Bush thing as well.

In my life, it doesn't matter a whole lot because I work with mostly engineers who feel pretty much the same way. The few liberals who are there a good folks too, we just disagree with no problems.

The internet in general, and blogging in particular, is quite the opposite. It's very fasionable and "in" to hate Bush and ever thing he's done, and every word he's ever spoken, but I like and support him. Not every single thing, but most things I guess, including the wars.

I've never loaded my own rounds, but I have a few guns. My pride of them all is a single action Colt 45 re-issue that my Father left to me. Simply beautiful, and a pleasure to shoot.

I get pretty uncomfortable watching sex scenes too. Since we rarely go to the theater, and watch almost everything at home on DVD or the DVR, we just fast-forward through those parts. Not prudish, well, maybe more than most, but mainly just not interested in watching others "do it."

Are you sure your not me?

I actually laughed after reading that - and I'm not sure any of it was meant to be funny?

My girlfriend laughed harder after reading it to her.

I suppose we have our differences. I'm not a "gun collector" so to speak - but I seem to collect a lot of firearms.

Interesting post.

Ryan, what part was funny? I'd like to know what I'm doing right.

JAM: I always thought I was alone on the movie thing, I'm glad to hear my oddity club has other members ;)

Our whole family (including adult kids) is uncomfortable with sex scenes. I find it particularly awkward when they are in the room (we often ff - my son generally leaves).
I'm totally with you on the shopping thing.

I have a hard time following any politics - they're all in it for themselves.

Guns make me uncomfortable. Because they are potentially very dangerous and accidents happen. Barbeques strike me the same way. Cars used to but after 30 odd years of driving, I'm over the worst of it.

I, too feel uncomfortable watching sex scenes, but only when there are others in the room, especially my teenage daughter.

Guns scare me....but I have recently met someone who is really into them too, so maybe my fear will become an interest?

I am very interested to hear people's comments on George. From over here I was under the impression that most Americans hated him....but maybe that's just US? I'm not a great fan of his.

Hammer, Helen came over and watched a movie with me. Maybe you have seen it. It’s “Stand By Me.” About four young kids that were friends around twelve years old and their adventure of going to look for the dead body of another kid that had gotten killed by a train.

It reminded me very much of the stories you tell about your youth. If you haven’t seen it, I think you would really enjoy it. I’m going to do an update post on the camper project in the morning. As for movies, I like to be entertained or learn something, there is enough other shit in my head already. I want to watch comedy mostly. Especially romantic comedies with kissing and sex in them. But I don’t consider them porn, I like scenes where they are looking into each others eyes, that is spiritual to me. Go figure, but I see things differently than others it seems. But I’m only a hard ass on my blog, that is where I let off steam and bitch at the world.

Hey, women like to watch romantic comedies with me. :-)

Loose change, I guess that may be something weird about me. I never seem to get it back in my pockets.

Hell, I've put change in all kinds of containers and forgot it was there. There is two cans of it next to my desk, a bunch on my desk, more out in the camper. Some in the truck. I'll bet there is a can of it sitting in one of the boxes I packed off of the boat when I sold it.

I got in a tight spot one time years ago and went around and collected a lot of it up. It was over four hundred dollars.

When I die it will be a frigging treasure hunt around here.

It pisses me off when they have to have some sort of love angle in a war film. always with the nurse on the island or some crap. I know the production company is trying to play to the females in the audience, but it really screws up the movie. If I want to see the lovey-dovey crap I'll go peek through my neighbor's bedroom window.

You know, sometimes you sound like a christian. Hey, liberal is just a label also.

jeannie: It seems I've struck a chord about sex scenes. Yep the guns stay locked up and my kids get safety lessons and the whole tell an adult if you ever see a gun thing.

KB: The fear of guns comes from the lack of exposure. A healthy respect for them is more my speed.
You will probably enjoy the sport of trap shooting or plinking. It's a fun sport and women are usually better at it than men as beginners.

George Bush? He was dealt a tough hand I'm not sure if anyone could make everyone happy in this political environment. I like it that he admits his mistakes though, unlike his predacessor. Nobody is perfect and I've got a soft spot for underdogs.

BBC: I saw stand by me about 20 years or so ago I need to watch it again. I collect loose change in a old vase and turn it in for 70 or eighty bucks when it gets full. I like finding the silver coins and wheat pennies. Christian? what makes you say that? I'm sure I share many of the values because I was raised that way but as far as dogma...nope

Phosgene: Yeah frigging pearl harbor was ruined by that crap plus a bunch of other stuff. Careful with your neighbors they might want you to join them ;)

We have to respect our leader, after all we do live in a democracy.

I vote blank.

I find antique guns fascinating.

I hate movies with kissing and sex scenes, except when it involves beautiful lesbians.

kerry or gore right now. not a chance.

here`s my take.

there are men, and women, for a time. winston churchhill was a man for his time in england and when the war was over he needed to go. he didn`t play fair or by any reasonable rules, which was precisely what hitler needed.

force for force.

the people of america knew what needed to be done in the middle east and so cigar boy was out and the cowboy was in.....twice.

it will be interesting to see what will be done over there when the liberals take the wheel.

those muzzies don`t take kindly to being talked down to.

could you just imaginge the pelosi/kerry huddle?

at least denis miller will have some new material.

rose: I'm pretty peculiar overall but down to earth on most things. I embarassed easily.

lexcen: I'll post some pics of my WWI and WWII collection. Beautiful lesbians lol there is a difference between porno and regular family room TV viewing but the line tends to get crossed more and more.

dr alistair: Astute observation and totally correct. Pelosi, Kerry?
That fills me with dread.

Statements like that, and loving guns, is what makes you sound like a christian.

But it's too complex to try to explain here. If it can even be explained at this time in time and space.

Sex scenes in movies...I wanted to be an actress for a long time but I knew I couldn't do the sex scenes, let alone go around kissing a bunch of random actors. Gross.

On another note, I saw a thing on the History Channel last week about famous sharp shooters and it was quite interesting to see another side of firearms. Do you know any sharp shooting tricks?

At February 4, 2007 at 10:12 PM , Anonymous Hammer said...

blondie: When I was 14 they weren't too bad ;)

BBC: moonbats that spend every waking moment trying to ban guns are what kerry and pelosi are. The only time Kerry voted in the senate in 2004 was to ban all hunting ammuntion.

liz: yeah I'm pretty shy too, I don't think acting would be my cup of tea.

sharp shooting tricks? hmmm I can hit a penny at 20 paces with my pistol. But mostly I like shooting tin cans and stuff and watch them bounce around.

At February 5, 2007 at 4:07 AM , Anonymous BBC said...

Well, I contend that when we evolve far enough, if we ever do, that we won't want guns around. Other than for hunting game. They don't do a lot towards bringing peace to this planet.

My only reason for having guns is for self protection from the wackos, and in case of the off chance that someday I may need something to eat.

I haven't shot one for about 15 years though. Hey, is my ammo old? Should I replace it?

1, 2, 4, and 6 are my life also. hehehehe

This is a big firearm/hunting family. My son knew about firearm safety and how to shoot by the time he was 5.

My husband does reloading, he's just starting though. Been at it about a year.

I am so with you on the shopping thing. My husband wants to wonder the store, and I'm in and out, and cranky if we wonder anywhere else. hehehehe

Ooh ooh, tag me!

Kidding, I think.

These things aren't so weird. In spite off what comes out of the White House - good or bad - I was raised to always respect the office of the presidency, and by extension, whoever holds the office at the moment. Even if it's sometimes a grudging respect it's still there.

Also, we shop alike too. Shopping excursions are like precision bombing runs for me. I'm in for specific items and then I'm out.

Interesting answers here.
