Word verification is mocking me.

When I first started this blog I began to get comments that didn't make any sense.

"I didn't find what I was looking for but I found cheap Viagra"

"Great blog nice colors, Click here for hot sex"

I decided to put up word verification to quash the spammers. I wasn't getting any real comments but I wanted to make sure the fake ones didn't get through either.

Slowly, people started coming around, reading, commenting and making blogging more than dumping my personal thoughts into a big online chamber pot.

When I started responding to posts I began to realize that the word verification was mocking me.

Not just on my own blog but on others as well.

I would type out a long response and go down to the word verification screen and it would have nothing in it. It was taunting me.

Finally after reloading the page several times I would get a word verification like this "lillilillliil" .
Very funny blogger.

After failing to get it right the next one would be "lolpwned". Hmm now I know someone is fucking with me.

I'm not dyslexic and I made double and triple sure I typed "lolpwned" correctly.

It failed once again and aome back with a new one "uracokeater". By this time I'm seriously hoping it's someone at blogger playing games and not the Internet coming to some insane, demonic, artificially intelligent self realization.

It finally let me post with stfulusr.

"sigh" I'm being picked on by a machine....

I finally turned off the word verification on this blog so you guys won't have to deal with the demonic blogger jerk. I'll deal with the trolls and spammers individually.

I don’t have the time or desire to moderate comments. Verification sucks but I also don’t have the time to delete the spam. I like the blog I visit where you just type in the three random shown there backwards. It’s a no brainer. But the blog spot programmers seem to be on more drugs, or their boss’s are idiots.

I feel like I am taking an IQ test whenever I have to decipher one of those. The worse part is, having your own blog's comment section refuse you entry because you are too dumb...

I wrote about this very thing in a post a while back. It truly does make you type in a second or even third secret word thingy most of the time. I originally thought it was my lack of typing skills, but it happens to this day, even if I type it in carefully with one finger.

Only thing I can figger is that maybe it's a double layer of security by Blogger against spam. I hope so, otherwise, it sure is annoying.

ha ha... that reminds me of when I discovered the Internet. I could not believe that I was chatting with complete strangers from Australia and America... and they kept using weird words like LOL and... gosh I can't remember what else... I thought my English was not good enough! Still tricks me though, but now there is google.

Thanks for your comment! I hate the word verification...but can't stand being let down when I see a new comment and it being a fake. I get really excited when I a new comment! It is just disappointing to have it be a dud!

What about when you write a long comment and get all correct and click "go"...you wait...and wait ...and wait...and then it comes: "The page is not found" and you don't remember all you have written to be able to write it again...
So often as I remember it I try to remember to copy the comment before I click "go"
Let's see now if I get it all correct, and let me now copy the comment....

I try to be as patient as possible with Blogger because it's a free service... and because I remember what it was like before. I guess it was about six years ago that someone suggested I start a blog, but I really hated trying to use Blogger. There were periods of days at a time that I couldn't get logged in. Then I'd get logged in, but the post editor would never load. I gave up blogging, then used a different service when I decided to try it again. My husband gave Blogger another try, and he found out things had vastly improved. That's how I ended up back here. Trust me, it's not so bad for a free service.

BBC: Unless the trolls get really bad I'll leave em be and just make fun of them.

Scott: exactly, my own blog was giving me the virtual finger.

helene: I had to look everything up at first and now they are coming up with new ones like roflcopter... sheesh

Kirsten: Page not found makes me really angry it should let you go back to your comment but noooooo they have to be A-holes about it. I copy and paste now too.

ms: Yeah stupid blogger beta and regular blogger are not on speaking terms. Not very smart of the google folks.

jenny: Me too fake comments are always a let down. I want to go stalk these people and boil their bunnies.

Phoenix: I know it's free and I'm appreciative of the service overall. However I wish they would fix it and leave it alone for a while.

I thought it was just me, Hammer.

It's been about a month now since I turned it off and life is easier in one tiny piece of my world.

Yeah, that's a big part of the problem. When a service gets too ecited about releasing new features, you end up with a situation where they release, fix bugs, realease another, fix bugs, fix bugs it caused in the previous new feature, and release another somewhere in the middle. That's too many new features, too many bugs, and just leave it alone! Stop picking at it or it won't heal!

Sorry... channeled somebody's mother for a second.

Umm, one other thing Hammer. I don’t require word verification on my blog either. I just don’t accept anonymous posts and that gets rid of most of the spam. If the people reading all these blogs don’t want to have a blog of their own, that is fine. But all they have to do is get a profile and then they can comment as they wish. There are a number of people that comment on my blog that have profiles only.

I love to screw with the trolls and the monkeys that want to get into pissing contests with me. :-)

Kirsten, most of my comments (like this one) are wrote in a word document and then pasted into a comment box. I still have the text on my computer if things go to hell, and they will.

Damn, my mouse is having fits.
