Close to 5k hits. Thanks guys.

Monica, the pardoned Thanksgiving turkey shows her gratitude to the Commander in Chief...

When I started writing this blog I never really expected anyone to comment.

I was in the process of writing a book and the overflow of the creative toilet ended up over here.

I really enjoy reading everyone's blog and especially your witty comments and anecdotes.

Thanks everyone.

I'm reading about 40 blogs regularly, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a program or service that alerts you when someone updates.

Yeah I'm lazy.

Happy Thanksgiving.

If you put all of your links into a "blogroll," they will display whatever you want them to when the blog is updated (mine say "adjusting fire."). That's probably the easiest way..... You can sign up for free at blogrolling.com

I never could get the feature that tells you when someone has updated to work with my blogroll. That's probably through some fault of my own, as it would seem other people get it to work just fine. *glares at "other people"* It's a good service, though, because I don't have to go edit things on my blog to add a site to the list.

I downloaded Mozilla Firefox 2, since I've had Firefox for a few years and love it. Firefox 2 has LiveBookmarks. I made a folder for blogs that I want to bookmark that way, and as long as they have feeds enabled, it works just fine. I get a little button in the address bar to click on, and that's how I bookmark the blog. Then, when I scroll down to it on the bookmarks list, a list of the most recent posts comes up. I can see if there's a new post without having to go to the blog first.

Was that clear as mud? It makes more sense when I'm looking at it than when I'm explaining it.

Have you tried - Subscribe to RSS feed option?

I use Bloglines (www.bloglines.com). You just subscribe to the RSS feed and when you open your bloglines window all the ones that have updated will be in bold print with the number of new messages after the blog name. You can also have them sorted either alphabetically or in order of the most recent posts. I wouldn't be able to read all the blogs I do without it. I just wouldn't have time to load all the pages.

Depending on the blog, you might still need to open up individual pages to view pictures and so forth, because not all RSS feeds will also feed the pictures. Like yours, for example.

You should give bloglines a try and see how you like it.

A blog ends up taking on a life of its own as you now know. Mine spins off in directions I didn't expect it to.

I can reach you with Explorer but still not with Firefox. Go figure.

Got a joke for ya.

Becky and Sally Ann were doing some carpenter work on a house.

Becky who was nailing down siding would reach into her nail pouch, pull out a nail and either toss it over her shoulder or nail it in.

Sally Ann, figuring this was worth looking into, asked, "Why are you throwing those nails away?"

Becky explained, "When I pull a nail out of my pouch, about half of them have the head on the wrong end and I throw them away."

Sally Ann got completely upset and yelled, "You moron! Those nails aren't defective!

They're for the other side of the house!."

PS... I don't have a hit counter, don't care, don't have time to follow all that. I just lead my parade, how many followers I have I don't care.

They come and go, just like in real life. Hugs.

Great joke! Congrats on the 5K. I just surpassed my 5K mark.

blogrolling.com is cool, but I prefer a feed-reader. When ever you add a feed, the reader will automatically add new posts from that particular .rss. This way you don't have to go to 40 different blogs every day...you just click on the reader.

The reader I use is available here:

Congrats on nearly 5k! Some days you're just interesting as all get out and other days I must take you with a grain of salt! (Just a comment to keep your head from getting too big - ha ha). Seriously, keep it up and thanks for all your comments on my own pithy quip.

Another cute one.

POWER OUTAGE DURING A MAMMOGRAM

I actually kept my mammogram appointment.
I was met with, "Hi! I'm Belinda!" This perky clipboard carrier smiled from ear to ear, tilted her head to one side and crooned, "All I need you to do is step into this room right hereee, strip to the waist, thennnn slip on this gown. Everything clearrrr?"

I'm thinking, "Belinda, try decaf. This ain't rocket science."
Belinda skipped away to prepare the chamber of horrors. Call me crazy, but I suspect a man invented this machine. It takes a perfectly healthy cup size of 36-B to a size 38-LONG in less than 60 seconds. Also, girls aren't made of sugar and spice and everything nice...it's Spandex. We can be stretched, pulled and twisted over a cold 4-inch piece of square glass and still pop back into shape.

With the right side finished, Belinda flipped me (literally) to the left and said, "Hmmmm. Can you stand on your tippy toes and lean in a tad so we can get everything?"

Fine, I answered. I was freezing, bruised, and out of air, so why not use the remaining circulation in my legs and neck and finish me off?

My body was in a holding pattern that defied gravity (with my other boob wedged between those two 4" pieces of square glass) when we heard, then felt a zap! Complete darkness and the power went off!

"What?" I yelled.

"Oh, maintenance is working. Bet they hit a snag." Belinda headed for the door.

"Excuse me! You're not leaving me in this vise alone, are you?" I shouted.

Belinda kept going and said, "Oh, you fussy puppy . the door's wide open so you'll have the emergency hall lights. I'll be righttttt backkkk."

Before I could shout "NOOOO!" she disappeared. And that's exactly how Bubba and Earl, maintenance men extraordinaire, found me, half-naked and part of me dangling from the Jaws of Life and the other part smashed between glass!

After exchanging polite "Hi, how's it going" type greetings, Bubba (or possibly Earl) asked, to my utter disbelief, if I knew the power was off.

Trying to disguise my hysteria, I replied with as much calmness as possible "Uh, yes, yes I did thanks"

"You bet, take care" Bubba replied and waved good-bye as though I'd been standing in the line at the grocery store.

Two hours later, Belinda breezes in wearing a sheepish grin and making no attempt to suppress her amusement, she said. "Oh I am soooo sorry! The power came back on and I totally forgot about you! And silly me, I went to lunch. Are we upset?"

And that, Your Honor, is exactly how her head ended up between the clamps........

Thanks for the tips on the blog updates.

The mammogram was hilarious BBC, probably because I'm not a woman.

Is that a true story?
