Random stuff and a recipe

Kitem was very kind to send these awards my way. I'm honored to receive them.I'll have to think of some folks to pass them on to.
In other news:
Chula seems to be fine with the new puppy. I'm trying to get Marvin to stop acting like a dick, he gave rusty a lick and then bit his leg...hard The pup is ok. I've been reading some methods on how to introduce a new dog so I'll be trying that tomorrow.

Looks like the squirrels finally packed up and moved on. Maybe the smell of a new dog along with my sniping skills were enough to drive them away. Thanks everyone for the rodent advice. I wasn't about to start feeding them because that would be like paying vandals not to spray paint shit on my walls. I'm more Winston Churchill than Neville Chamberlain when it comes to dealing with the little furry criminals.

My wife is on vacation again this week. I know I say that a lot but she gets 7 weeks each year. Next year she gets another week added to that for 25 years with her company. I think they let her pick out something from the company catalog too.

Here is my recipe.
I call it the Beaner omelet because I think racial epithets are funny especially when they are aimed at myself.

This serves 2:
4 large eggs
2 heaping tablespoons of your favorite salsa
4oz of grated cheddar or mozzarella cheese
1 cup of browned and crumbled sausage
1/2 cup of cooked pinto, ranch style or black beans.
1/4 tsp salt

Beat the eggs, salsa, half the cheese and sausage together and pour into a well oiled nonstick skillet over med heat. stir well then cook until the eggs are nearly done then add the beans. Fold the omelet over and add the rest of the cheese to the top and remove the pan from the heat. Cover and let the residual heat finish the eggs and melt the cheese. You can serve this with warm tortillas.

My son and I went to the movies to see Step Brothers. I swear I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. It takes something really funny for me to bust a gut in a movie theater. It's a lot of silly, crude and juvenile humor. The movie is about two 40 year old losers who live at home with their respective single parents...the parents meet at work and get married..they all move into one house and the hilarity ensues.

This movie clip is not work or kid safe

omg, I *need* to see that movie. i've seen the poster at all the subway stations...didn't know it was out yet.

those two seem perfectly suited to start in a movie together as two dooshbags. they're like the 21st century's tracy & hepburn (not dooshbags)!

I need to try that recipe. My kids love omelettes of any kind.

I'm sure that movie will be on the list of faves at our house. Anything with Will Farrel is a hit. What can I say? We love stupid humor!

Oh my - what a way to start the day [video]. You know after that clip I can only assume that it's funny because like many things in life, it really could be true!

I could never get anyone to eat beans or eggs around here. Maybe we could do a recipe swap?

Here's mine =

Red Cabbage Salad

Small red cabbage the same size as your large fist, shredded
Two oranges, shavings of pith removed in strips and Julienned plus juice
2 carrots as long as your hand, grated coarsely
Snortful of toasted sesame seeds
Palmful of Sultanas, yellow raisins[?] soaked in boiling water for ten minutes
Swish of honey
Goop of extra virgin olive oil

Combine and leave to mingle for an hour before eating, best served at room temperature for fullest flavour.

Did they eat it?

Course not silly!

Cheers

I am looking forward to seeing the movie-- it looks like my kind of stupid humor.

OMG, we used to call our son the 'beaner' and I have no idea why. It wasn't racial and it wasn't cause he liked beans. Hmm??

That clip is hysterical. Gotta see that movie!

Hammer,
I liked the Winston Chruchill analogy :)

Omelttes really hit the spot sometimes when you can get them light and fluffy and filled with all sorts of good stuff. Salsa is a must :)

Only 2 tblspn of salsa? Oh hell no, when I'm done with the salsa you can barely see the food that accompanies it.
:)
I think this movie is going to be a must see too.
We need a good laugh.

Haven't had a chance to read yours for a couple of days. The pictures were a crack up.

Your omelet sounds great and would be heartburn city for me most of the day.

Probably won't see the movie. I am so done with Will Farrell. Over exposed at this point in his career.

I love the mental picture of you sitting on the porch picking off squirrels. Very snipper like...

After your review of this movie, I want to see it.

Maybe I'll try this recipe this weekend when we don't have the kids. They're not black bean fans (and they're half Spanish...Go Figure!).

Gee...our hard working US Congress Democrats only took 5 weeks off for summer vacation after protecting us from steroids in major league baseball and really important stuff like trying to impeach Bush, or like Congresswoman Maxine Waters attempting to take over big oil.
Your wife must be a California State Employees Union Leader.
