Restaurants, tipping and stupid lazy incompetent food servers.
You would think if someone had a job that paid primarily in tips they would try to make their customers happy, content and satisfied.
Working in a restaurant or bar is a hard and sometimes thankless job. Jesus people !Don't be a damn food server if you have no manners, short term memory or are some kind of freaking miscreant.
My family and I go out to eat fairly often. We have come to expect mediocre service.

Sad. If the food is decent, comes out correctly and I get at least one or two drink refills I'll tip 15 to 20 percent. This in my opinion is not excellent service but adequate.
There is one Chinese place I go to that has one waitress for the whole restaurant. She also buses the tables. Even during the lunch rush, my iced tea and water never dips more than an inch from the rim of the glass. Anything I ask for is done right the first time every time. This lady barely speaks English but works her boney ass off . She gets 25 to 30 percent for excellent service.
Lazy, surly incompetent, excuse making, spoiled turds that work as servers in the TGI fridays and Chilis type establishments make you get up and find the pimply 22 year old stoner assistant manager to get a fricken refill of tea or a bottle of mustard to drown the tasteless gruel they pass off as food. Even then the manager can't get anything right becuse he is too busy thinking about his next doobie or getting into the hostesses pants after his shift.
Don't you hate it when you are seated in an establishment and then nobody comes? .....ever.

I used to look for a manager to find a server but then I figure he or she should be out here anyway making sure their waiters are doing their stinkin jobs. Now I just walk out muttering loudly about how much everyone sucks and can burn in hell.
I'm not a a hard ass by any means... I'm a pretty frigging nice guy, maybe thats my problem. If a waitress screws up I don't want farging excuses. I want it fixed and maybe "I'm so sorry "

My wife and I have had more than our fair share of nightmare dining out experiences to discourage us enough so that we just don't go anymore.
Food is usually the biggest disappointment. Service always leaves a lot to be desired. Luckily or unfortunately, my wife is such a good cook, that nothing ever compares to what she can whip up in the kitchen.
We have had great meals on the odd occassion but that was at buffet where service isn't part of the deal.
oh, boy, is this still applicable a year later. The lousy waiters probably don't get the hint when they get a corresponding lousy tip and curse the customer and give up trying to be nice to future customers, because they don't realize that the customer who leaves a lousy tip wasn't happy with the service, so they think "why should I try?". But the intelligent ones don't stay long because they're too smart to be a waiter for long. It's a vicious cycle.

I hate Male waters. I know thats just prejudice but I cannot STAND when a guy waits on my table.
They annoy the crap out of me by coming back to the table 4 times to ask if "everything is ok?"
YES... Now leave me ALONE!!
Women are SO MUCH better than men. If I ever own a restaurant I am NEVER hiring a guy as a waiter.
anon: Male waiters also tend to be disrespectful and flippant. They piss me off just as much as bad female waitresses.
my advice as a career server AVOID the base chain restaurants like the PLAGUE. Take pity on the poor manager at that place he works with those losers your complaining about up to 80 hours a week.
You will get better service in non chains because they do not have a HR dept. They tend to fire their employees who suck more quickly. They also have quirks which tend to cull the chain quality servers like that Chinese place with no busser. Slacker servers dont like to self bus.
And why would you go to a new restaurant if it didnt have a rep for good food/service? I tend to have my favorite places and eat out a lot and dont seem to have the problems others do. But I also do not expect great service in a chain like Chili's. Oddly I like Applebee's microwaved food and all and never had a bad server there.
